American opposition to 5G is about more than biological (see 1, 2) and environmental risks (see 1, 2). Federal agencies and other experts warn that 5G also threatens national security, public safety, and weather forecasting accuracy (see 1, 2, 3).
5G opposition and warnings have become so widespread that they were recently the subject of a Dilbert comic strip. Cities worldwide AND entire countries have taken action to ban, delay, halt, and limit 5G installation AS WELL AS issue moratoriums. In 2019, telecom executives gave congressional testimony that they had NO scientific evidence that 5G is safe AND there already IS research confirming that it is NOT safe.
Since 2018, there have also been reports of people and animals suddenly experiencing undesirable symptoms and becoming sick after it was turned on (see 1. 2, 3, 4). Of course exposure to other sources of wireless radiation can also cause health issues. In fact, last year The World Health Organization warned that high levels of Electromagnetic Radiation exposure (aka “Electrosmog”) could lead to health issues in 30% of the population.
5G has become so controversial that Trump recently withdrew his re-nomination of a veteran FCC commissioner because of it. Strangely enough, he still seems to be a proponent despite all of the above.
President Trump’s campaign is reviving its proposal to nationalize 5G, which means that the government will build 5G “small cell” infrastructure and rent access to wireless carriers. Trump first suggested the plan in early 2018, but it met with strong resistance from the FCC, the telecom industry and Congress. The plan was dropped shortly thereafter, and the Air Force official who authored it was removed from the National Security Council and left the White House.
Several rationales have been used to justify the plan,
