Further Signs of More War: A Most Dangerous Game | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

14-03-18 02:08:00,

Donald Trump’s days of playing the passive/aggressive host of a reality-television game show are coming to an end.  Either he fires all the apprentices who might slightly hesitate to wage a much larger world war and lets the bombs fly, or he will be replaced by one who will.  Signs are that he has learned what his job entails and the world will suffer more death and destruction as a result.

Back in the days of the first Cold War – the late 1950s to early 1960s when our little world came close to extinction – my very large family appeared on many American television shows.  Their names told the story of those times: “Who Do You Trust,” “To Tell the Truth,” “Charades,” “Play Your Hunch,” and “Beat the Clock,” to name a few.  It was as if those silly game shows were unconsciously suggesting we probe a little deeper behind the headlines to discover what was really going on before the Doomsday Clock ran out.

Today things are far more sophisticated and sinister, with a massive and unrelenting war on truth being waged by the Western corporate media, an arm of the CIA, capitalism’s invisible army.  It is a twisted game show with deadly consequences.  Its method is Janus-faced.  From one face, repeat over and over again bold-faced lies always lacking in evidence – e.g. Russiagate, WMD in Iraq, the Syrian government used chemical weapons, Russia is an aggressor planning to invade Eastern Europe, three World Trade Center buildings fell into their own footprints in virtual free fall speed because of fires, etc.; from the other face, play the game of suggesting to the public that they know more than they do because they watch CIA-backed shows like “Homeland,” movies like “Zero Dark Thirty,” and are being informed by all the so-called ex-CIA and intelligence commentators that populate the corporate media and explain what’s really going on.  The old adage that “you never leave the CIA” has somehow imperceptibly morphed into “Yes, we can; trust us.”

Now we have the British Prime Minister Theresa May accusing Russia of poisoning in England the double-agent Sergei Skripal and threatening Russia to give a “credible” explanation why they killed this man or else, a man who sold the identities of Russian agents to the UK for cash,

Why The Super-Rich Are Rushing To Buy Nuclear-Proof Bunkers

Why The Super-Rich Are Rushing To Buy Nuclear-Proof Bunkers

13-03-18 08:35:00,

Authored by Eric Zuesse via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

The rush amongst the super-rich started after the key event of 2014; this single stunning event suddenly sparked that rush by the super-rich to buy nuclear-proof bunkers, and the rush has been nonstop since that event. Though many news-media in The West have reported on the existence of this suddenly booming market for luxurious and supposedly nuclear-proof bunkers, none has reported on what actually caused it — the event that had sparked it. In fact, that event is still a secret in The West — not publicly mentioned here; it is, practically speaking, bannedfrom being publicly even mentioned, in The West. So: since that event is necessarily mentioned in this article, and is even linked-to here, so that the reader can see videos of it that were posted of it online while it was happening, and there is even “smoking gun” evidence showing government officials actually planning it, and covering it up, and blatantly lying about what they had done, this report, explaining why the super-rich rush now to buy nuclear-proof bunkers, violates that ban. As a consequence, probably none of the hundreds of major news-media in The West that this news-report is being submitted to for publication, will publish it. But perhaps a half-dozen of the small ones will publish it. After all: a few small news-media cannot have much impact. The government and media don’t need to fool everyone in order to succeed, but only to fool the vast majority of people. (However, maybe now they don’t any longer even need to continue worrying about public opinion, at all. So: maybe they no longer need to continue such bans. But they do continue them, perhaps simply out of institutionalized bad habit.)

Wherever you’re so fortunate as to be reading this: here is the reason why the market for luxurious deep-underground nuclear-resistant bunkers has so suddenly blossomed:

In February 2014, an extremely violent, and US-engineered but ‘democracy’-masked, coup in Ukraine on Russia’s very doorstep, was successfully culminated by its overthrowing Ukraine’s neutralist and democratically elected leader, and then by its installing there a rabidly anti-Russian government,

The Real Reason America Used Nuclear Weapons Against Japan. It Was Not To End the War Or Save Lives. | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

The Real Reason America Used Nuclear Weapons Against Japan. It Was Not To End the War Or Save Lives. | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

13-03-18 08:31:00,

Relevant article selected from the GR archive, first published on Washington Blog and Global Research in October 2012.

Like all Americans, I was taught that the U.S. dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order to end WWII and save both American and Japanese lives.

But most of the top American military officials at the time said otherwise.

The U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey group, assigned by President Truman to study the air attacks on Japan, produced a report in July of 1946 that concluded (52-56):

Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey’s opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945 and in all probability prior to 1 November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.

General (and later president) Dwight Eisenhower – then Supreme Commander of all Allied Forces, and the officer who created most of America’s WWII military plans for Europe and Japan – said:

The Japanese were ready to surrender and it wasn’t necessary to hit them with that awful thing.

Newsweek, 11/11/63, Ike on Ike

Eisenhower also noted (pg. 380):

In [July] 1945… Secretary of War Stimson, visiting my headquarters in Germany, informed me that our government was preparing to drop an atomic bomb on Japan. I was one of those who felt that there were a number of cogent reasons to question the wisdom of such an act. …the Secretary, upon giving me the news of the successful bomb test in New Mexico, and of the plan for using it, asked for my reaction, apparently expecting a vigorous assent.

During his recitation of the relevant facts, I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was,

Fukushima Radiation Levels 100 Times Higher Than Normal, Greenpeace Warns | Asia-Pacific Research

Fukushima Radiation Levels 100 Times Higher Than Normal, Greenpeace Warns | Asia-Pacific Research

13-03-18 08:12:00,

Seven years after a 9.1-magnitude earthquake and the resulting tsunami triggered the catastrophic disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, the people, towns and villages in the surrounding area are still being exposed to excessive levels of radiation, according to a Greenpeace report.

“This is public land. Citizens, including children and pregnant women returning to their contaminated homes, are at risk of receiving radiation doses equivalent to one chest X-ray every week. This is unacceptable and a clear violation of their human rights,” said Jan Vande Putte, leader of the survey, from Greenpeace Belgium.

The survey states that in the towns of Namie and Iitate, approximately 10km and 40km respectively from the Fukushima plant, radiation levels continue to be “up to 100 times higher than the international limit for public exposure”.

Greenpeace also noted the “ineffectiveness of decontamination work” in these areas, saying there remained a “significant risk to health and safety for any returning evacuee”, adding that Tokyo’s policy of “effectively forcing people to return by ending housing and other financial support is not working”.

The Japanese government claims that radiation levels in the reopened zones pose no risk to human health and that its own data has been corroborated by the country’s medical experts as well as the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation.

Greenpeace’s announcement coincides with a new ground-level study conducted by an international research team – including scientists from the University of Manchester – which found that uranium and other radioactive materials, such as caesium and technetium, were present in tiny particles released from the damaged nuclear reactors.

This could mean that the environmental impact from the fallout may last much longer than previously expected. The team said that, for the first time, the fallout of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor fuel debris into the surrounding environment has been “explicitly revealed” by its study, published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

The scientists looked at extremely small pieces of debris, known as micro-particles, released into the environment during the initial disaster in 2011. The researchers discovered uranium from nuclear fuel embedded in or associated with caesium-rich micro particles that were emitted from the plant’s reactors during the meltdowns.

Theresa May pushes nerve agent false flag, gives Russia 36 hour ultimatum

Theresa May pushes nerve agent false flag, gives Russia 36 hour ultimatum

12-03-18 07:39:00,

US President Donald Trump has just lectured NATO on it member’s commitment performance and held a controversial meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and is next week to receive EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, with trade matters being high up on the agenda.

Juncker is expected to present Trump with a package of proposals to help smooth relations and potentially heal areas of division, particularly those surrounding Europe’s trade relationship with America. Those proposals are precisely what is cropping up as another area of divergence between some members of the EU, specifically France and Germany, just after a major contention on migration has been driving discord within the Union.

This gets down to whether Europe should offer concessions to Trump on trade while Trump is admittedly describing the Union as a ‘foe’ and has initiated a trade spat with the Union by assessing trade tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Europe, spurring retaliatory tariff measures from the EU Commission.

France, specifically, is opposed to any sort of compromise with Trump on the matter, where Trump is perceived as an opponent to the Union and its unity, whereas Germany is economically motivated to seek an end to the trade dispute under the threat of a new round of tariffs emanating from the Trump administration, and is therefore seeking to find some sort of proposal that Trump will accept and therefore back down on his protectionism against the EU, and Germany in particular.

Politico reports:

Only a week before European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker flies to Washington, France and Germany are divided over how much he should offer to U.S. President Donald Trump to end a deepening trade war, say European diplomats and officials.

But, they add, Germany has the upper hand. Berlin is shaping Juncker’s agenda, suggesting three offers that he could take to Trump on July 25 to resolve the dispute, according to people familiar with the plans.

The French are uneasy about the wisdom of such a conciliatory approach, however, and publicly accuse Trump of seeking to splinter and weaken the 28-member bloc, which he has called his “foe.”

Despite Paris’ reservations about giving away too much to the increasingly hostile U.S.

The Largely Unrecognized US Occupation of Syria. Nearly One Third of Its Territory | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

12-03-18 06:27:00,

The United States has invaded Syria with a significant military force, is occupying nearly one-third of its territory, has announced plans for an indefinite occupation, and is plundering the country’s petroleum resources. Washington has no authorization under international or even US law to invade and occupy Syria, much less attack Syrian forces, which it has done repeatedly.

Nor has it a legal warrant to create new administrative and governance structures in the country to replace the Syrian government, a project it is undertaking through a parallel invasion of US diplomatic personnel. These actions—criminal, plunderous, and an assault on democracy at an international level—amount to a retrograde project of recolonization by an empire bent on extending its supremacy to all the Arab and Muslim worlds, including the few remaining outposts of resistance to foreign tyranny. Moreover, US actions represent an escalation of Washington’s long war on Syria, previously carried out through proxies, including the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda, into a full-scale conventional war with direct US military involvement. Yet, despite the enormity of the project, and the escalation of the war, the US occupation of Syria has largely flown under the radar of public awareness.

Atop multiple indignities and affronts to liberty and democracy visited upon the Arab world by the West, including the plunder of Palestine by European settlers and the political oppression of Arabs by a retinue of military dictators, monarchs, emirs and sultans who rule largely at the pleasure of Washington and on its behalf, now arrives the latest US transgression on the ideals of sovereignty, independence, and the equality of nations: marauders in Washington have pilfered part of the territory of one of the last bastions of Arab independence—Syria. Indeed, Washington now controls “about one-third of the country including most of its oil wealth”, [1] has no intention of returning it to its rightful owners, has planned for an indefinite military occupation of eastern Syria, and is creating a new Israel, which is to say, an new imperialist outpost in the middle of the Arab world, to be governed by Kurdish proxies backed by US firepower. [2] The crime has been carried out openly, and yet has hardly been noticed or remarked upon.

Here are the facts:

Former CIA Officer Exposes Clinton Charity Fraud As Biggest Scandal In US History

Former CIA Officer Exposes Clinton Charity Fraud As Biggest Scandal In US History

12-03-18 09:47:00,

Via Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com,

Former CIA Officer and whistleblower Kevin Shipp says the reason for all the crime and treason at the FBI and DOJ all boils down to one thing – the Clinton’s so-called “charity.”

Shipp explains, “Hillary Clinton was running and is running a global financial criminal syndicate.  She was using these secret servers to conduct Clinton financial money laundering business.”

“The shocking thing about that is all the former directors of the CIA that have come out to support her, from Clapper to Brennan to Morell to Robert Gates supporting her being elected, knew about this criminal syndicate.  Comey was protecting it.  Lynch was protecting it.  Weissmann was protecting it.  And that is the big why.  What’s she got on these people?  Are they financial ties?  They had to be aware of this, especially the counter-intelligence units.  We know it was hacked into by foreign intelligence services because it was just hanging out there.  Hillary Clinton was running a secret server outside the Department of State for the purposes of laundering money through the criminal Clinton Foundation.”

Are the crimes and treason of the Clinton Foundation the anvil that is about to drop? Shipp says,

“It’s not just an anvil, I think it is a mountain and the nexus of everything.  This “Clinton Global Initiative” (CGI) is worldwide, and it’s been out there for a couple of decades.  It has now intertwined former Directors of the CIA and FBI.   George Soros is a part of it.  It’s connected to all kinds of global financial institutions…

It is at least a $100 billion…

All these people protecting and defending Hillary Clinton and knowing about her criminal syndicate, this goes into the so-called ‘Deep State’ of our government, and it is connected, involved and intertwined in the global criminal crime syndicate called the Clinton Foundation.  This is probably going to be the biggest scandal in U.S. history–once it’s busted.  I think they are quietly working on it now, and I think they have been for the last year.  It is so huge the arrests and indictments could cause a Constitutional crisis with some people being removed.  Maybe that’s why they are moving slowly.

New California Rebels Against Tyranny of the Majority | Armstrong Economics

New California Rebels Against Tyranny of the Majority | Armstrong Economics

12-03-18 09:46:00,

The movement within California to split the state between Republican v Democrat has passed the first hurdle in becoming the 51st State. The movement is called the New California. They read their own Declaration of Independence on the floor of the State Senate. Their position reflects the serious divide within this country of left v right. They are correct in stating that the left is un-democratic and seeks to impose by the majority tyranny upon the minority.

We must understand that Democracy is not free of tyranny. We are living proof that we still live under the tyranny of the majority that is even worse than the tyranny of a monarch. The tyranny that we suffer under that has been the cornerstone of socialism in that the majority assumes the right to alter the way people live by imposing social laws that are not limited to a simple political function. Under the tyranny of a monarch, you can protect yourself from a tyrant. However, the tyranny under which we live today is much harder to escape for the majority simply pass laws that declare even prevailing opinion and feeling to be violations of their laws. As Thrasymachus said, justice under all forms of government, including Democracy, is simply the will of the majority. The prevailing opinions within the majority of society will be the basis of all rules of conduct within society without any noble roots. There can be no safeguard in law against the tyranny of the majority. That is simply impossible. This is why revolutionary conflict erupts even within Democracies for there is no possible way to escape the tyranny of the majority.

Direct Democracy can work when it is confined to economic and the safety of the state. It MUST be restrained by SOCIAL laws. It cannot impose laws based upon ANY religious belief for once that takes place, it becomes a tyranny of one philosophy over another.

Just look at Sweden. The refugees have created 70 no-go zones. They impose their own rule of law based on religion and reject the rest of the country. In those zones, they proclaim that Shariah Law prevails. Even the police are afraid to enter.

Do We really Hold: In God We Trust? | Armstrong Economics

Do We really Hold: In God We Trust? | Armstrong Economics

12-03-18 09:44:00,

QUESTION: I was wondering some of your thoughts on “God” and “The Creator” throughout US history? Is “In God We Trust” really a statement that if our most basic rights such as speech are not licensed by a government, then they are natural and thus come from God? Thus cannot be denied through evidence otherwise? What are the legal extents? Also, besides tradition, what are the significances of using the Bible during congressional swear-ins and testimonies? …

ANSWER: The origin of the motto “In God We Trust” dates back to 1864 and it was proposed by Samuel Chase, Secretary of the Treasury at that time. It first appeared in the 2 cents coin in 1864. After the Civil War, it then appears on the silver coinage from 25 cents to $1. It also appeared on the 5 cent coins in 1866, which were of a similar design to the 2 cent coinage. It never appeared on the penny which was reduced in size during the Panic of 1857. While it became the official motto of the U.S. state of Florida, it was not adopted as the nation’s motto until 1956 as a replacement/alternative to the unofficial motto of E pluribus unum (from many, one), which was adopted when the Great Seal of the United States was created and adopted in 1782.  President Dwight Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, declared “In God We Trust” must appear on American currency. This phrase was first used on paper money in 1957 when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate. The first paper currency bearing the phrase entered circulation on October 1, 1957.

Simply because we have this motto on our currency does not mean that it guides Washington at all. Some have argued that the Roman architecture and the Egyptian style obelisk for the Washington Monument are somehow signs of a deeper cult at work. That is a stretch. There is, of course, the Thomas Jefferson Bible which he composed excluding Jesus as God, but more as a philosopher.

The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, is what has been referred to as the Jefferson Bible. Jefferson wrote one of two religious works. First, Jefferson wrote The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth,

On March 4, former Russian General Staff Main Intelligence Directorate official Sergey Skripal/turned double agent for Britain and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious at the Salisbury UK Maltings shopping center.

They’re hospitalized in critical condition, an investigation underway to determine the cause of their illness – believed to be poisoning by a toxic substance, a nerve agent, according to UK police.

In 2004, Skripal was prosecuted for treason, sentenced to 13 years in prison. In 2010, he and three other imprisoned Russian nationals were pardoned and released as part of a prisoner exchange arrangement with Washington – freeing 10 Russian citizens in America.

In 2011, Skripal moved to Britain. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Western media of using his illness “to stoke the anti-Russia campaign,” adding:

“The situation has not become clear yet, but the usual theories have already gained momentum. (F)ake news stories are aimed at complicating Russia-UK relations. It is impossible to see any other reason behind them.”

Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin has no information on Skripal’s illness. No evidence suggests Russian involvement in the incident.

What possible benefit could Russia gain from his poisoning? Clearly Russophobes benefit hugely by blaming Moscow, an automatic knee-jerk reaction, especially by Western media scoundrels.

The incident is similar to the polonium-210 poisoning death of former Russian Federal Security Service/KGB official Alexander Litvinenko in 2006.

Moscow was automatically blamed despite no evidence suggesting it. At the time Maria Zakharova slammed the accusation, saying:

“We regret that the purely criminal case has been politicized and has marred the entire atmosphere of bilateral relations” – shown by lack of objectivity and bias.

Was the poisoning of Litvinenko and Skripal CIA false flags complicit with British intelligence to wrongfully blame Russia?

It makes no sense to imagine Moscow had anything to do with either incident. Yet irresponsible finger-pointing is relentless, notably by media scoundrels.

Neocon/CIA connected Washington Post editors asked if “Putin’s poison squad (is) back in Britain,” disgracefully saying:

State-Run Funds v Private – Why Politicians Cannot be Trusted with Investments/Pensions | Armstrong Economics

10-03-18 09:05:00,

QUESTION: Dear Mr. Armstrong: Many times you were warning about CalPERS. What is your scope on 401k via employers, RothIRA, Simple IRA, and SEP that investing in at Vanguard or Fidelity? Should we continue to contribute? Will these types of retirement plans be in peril as CalPERS ? Can our government get involved in these plans? Thank you very much for your expertise and service.

Best Regards

TN

ANSWER: Actually, the way a liquidator would view the task would be – if the funds were deployed into an asset (Vanguard or similar fund) then it is the “clients/accounts money” and not the institution! Therefore, the investment would hold better regulatory standing than if the funds were deployed rather than simply sitting in cash held by CALPER’s!

Additionally, a major fund such as Vanguard or Fidelity would defend their business in court if a state dared to try to seize it. The likelihood of that type of action being successful is somewhere BELOW -1%. The only way a Vanguard or Fidelity would be at risk is should the FEDERAL government go after it – not a state. Again, the likelihood of that is not very high and I would put that at a 15% chance. This type of action would be the move most likely taken by a Democrat under the pretense that they are going after the evil rich (of which they exclude themselves). But keep in mind, Democrats boast but behind the curtain, they are loading the trunks of their cars with as much loot as they too can carry off. That type of action would be in a major economic crisis that would threaten their political standing.

There are some state pensions that are run independently like Omers in Canada. But keep in mind that these are in the minority.

The bottom-line is that a private fund is FAR SAFER than a state-run fund. CalPERS is clearly in trouble because of Quantitative Easing & lowering interest rate to absurdly low levels. However, it is also partly in trouble because the politicians told it to invest in ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly ventures. So the “political” agenda overruled the economic purpose of actually making money.

Russian Billionaire Claims Fusion GPS Funded By Soros

Russian Billionaire Claims Fusion GPS Funded By Soros

09-03-18 01:16:00,

In a Daily Caller op-ed calling the Russian meddling narrative a “false public manipulation,” Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska claims that Daniel Jones – a former FBI investigator, Feinstein staffer and now a Fusion GPS operative – told the Russian Oligarch’s lawyer in March, 2017 that Fusion GPS was funded by “a group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.“

Daniel J. Jones

Of note, Deripaska’s lawyer, D.C. lobbyist Adam Waldman, recommended Jones to investigate and verify the claims from the Fusion GPS anti-Trump dossier assembled by former UK spy Christopher Steele. Waldman was also an intermediary between Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Steele in trying to arrange a meeting – which suggests that Waldman, Jones, Steele and Fusion GPS are all connected.

Deripaska describes the ongoing “Russia narrative” as nothing more than a scandal manufactured by the deep state. “Wagging the dog costs money,” writes Deripaska. “So, who is the “funding mechanism” of this “shadowy government?”” Why, none other than billionaire financier George Soros, according to Daniel Jones – as relayed to Congressional investigators by Deripaska’s attorney Adam Waldman:

[O]n March 16, 2017, Daniel Jones — himself a team member of Fusion GPS, self-described former FBI agent and, as we now know from the media, an ex-Feinstein staffer — met with my lawyer, Adam Waldman, and described Fusion as a “shadow media organization helping the government,” funded by a “group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.” My lawyer testified these facts to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Nov. 3. Mr. Soros is, not coincidentally, also the funder of two “ethics watchdog” NGOs (Democracy 21 and CREW) attacking Rep. Nunes’ committee memo. –Oleg Deripaska

Jones currently runs the Penn Quarter Group, a “research and investigative advisory” firm whose website was registered in April of 2016, days before Steele delivered his first in a series of Trump-Russia memos. Jones began tweeting out articles suggesting illicit ties between the Trump campaign and Russia as early as 2017.

As The Federalist’s Sean Davis reported last month, Congressional documents and leaked texts between Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Deripaska’s attorney Adam Waldman reveal that Jones is “intimately involved with ongoing efforts to retroactively validate”

A Conspiracy Theory That Became a “Conspiracy Fact”: The CIA, Afghanistan’s Poppy Fields and America’s Growing Heroin Epidemic | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

A Conspiracy Theory That Became a “Conspiracy Fact”: The CIA, Afghanistan’s Poppy Fields and America’s Growing Heroin Epidemic | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

09-03-18 11:41:00,

First published by Global Research in July 2016

The heroin epidemic resembles the days when “Crack cocaine” became the major drug that destroyed communities across the United States and other parts of the world including the Caribbean that began in the early 1980’s. The Crack epidemic coincidentally began around the same time when the Iran-Contra Scandal was being exposed. U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, Miami and New York City experienced a rise in crime and disease. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported back in 2015 that “heroin use in the United States increased 63% from 2002 through 2013.” Fast forward to 2016, heroin is sweeping across the United States at unprecedented levels.

According to an NBC affiliate  reported that state officials were set to declare a “public health emergency” in New Haven, Connecticut over the rise of heroin use which has resulted in two deaths:

Officials in New Haven on Friday were set to address a public health emergency declaration brought on by a rash of heroin overdoses in the city beginning Thursday. New Haven police said emergency responders saw at least 15 overdoses since Thursday afternoon, and possibly up to 22. At least two people have died. The city is warning residents that there is a batch of tainted, life-threatening heroin on the streets

In the suburbs of Long Island, NY, heroin use is an increasing problem. According to www.suburbanheroin.com a website devoted to the heroin epidemic on Long Island states that in 2012 – 2013 more than 242 people died from heroin use. Long Island is home to some of the wealthiest communities in New York State which goes to show that heroin is affecting all neighborhoods rich and poor. The NBC news report said that the CDC admitted that heroin has become an epidemic since 2002

“The CDC reports that between 2002 and 2014 the rate of heroin-related overdose deaths more than quadrupled and more than 10,500 died nationwide in 2014.”

Now the question is why heroin use has dramatically increased since 2002? Maybe the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001 after the September 11th attacks under the Bush regime had something to do with it?

The Worldwide Network of US Military Bases | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

The Worldwide Network of US Military Bases | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

09-03-18 11:40:00,

Global Research Editor’s Note

This important analysis and review of US military might by award winning Canadian geographer Professor Jules Dufour,  was first published by Global Research in 2007.  Jules Dufour passed away after a long illness in August 2017. His legacy will live.

US military presence around the World has expanded dramatically in the course of the last five years.  This study is largely based on data for the period 2001-2005.

*      *      *

The Worldwide control of humanity’s economic, social and political activities is under the helm of US corporate and military power. Underlying this process are various schemes of direct and indirect military intervention. These US sponsored strategies ultimately consist in a process of global subordination.

Where is the Threat?

The 2000 Global Report published in 1980 had outlined “the State of the World” by focusing on so-called  “level of threats” which might negatively influence or undermine US interests.

Twenty years later, US strategists, in an attempt to justify their military interventions in different parts of the World, have conceptualized the greatest fraud in US history, namely “the Global War on Terrorism” (GWOT). The latter, using a fabricated pretext  constitutes a global war against all those who oppose US hegemony. A modern form of slavery, instrumented through militarization and the “free market” has unfolded.

Major elements of the conquest and world domination strategy by the US refer to:

1) the control of the world economy and its financial markets,

2) the taking over of all natural resources (primary resources and nonrenewable sources of energy). The latter constitute the cornerstone of US power through the activities of its multinational corporations.

Geopolitical Outreach: Network of Military Bases

The US has established its control over 191 governments which are members of the United Nations. The conquest, occupation and/or otherwise supervision of these various regions of the World is supported by an integrated network of military bases and installations which covers the entire Planet (Continents, Oceans and Outer Space). All this pertains to the workings of  an extensive Empire, the exact dimensions of which are not always easy to ascertain.

LA STAMPA interview on the Italian election result (the original answers in English) – 9 MAR 2018

LA STAMPA interview on the Italian election result (the original answers in English) – 9 MAR 2018

09-03-18 11:40:00,

In this interview LA STAMPA sought my views on the outcome of the Italian elections. My original answers (in English) appear below. The gist? Italy’s election result is yet another example of the political centre’s implosion as a result of the establishment’s perseverance with failed, austerity-based policies, pretending that they were the solution to our continent’s systemic crisis. One thing is clear: A new political force needs to emerge from the debacle; a progressive, radical, Europeanist force. This is what we, at DiEM25 are working towards across Europe and with our Italian partners across Italy – beginning this weekend in Napoli.

What is your view of the outcome of the Italian elections?

The Italian election yielded a sad impasse. The only real beneficiaries are those who invested in xenophobia and fear. Like every other European country in which the establishment pressed on with failed, austerity-based policies, pretending that they were the solution to our continent’s systemic crisis, the ballot box reinforced the forces of European disintegration. One thing is clear: A new political force needs to emerge from the debacle; a progressive, radical, Europeanist force. This is what we, at DiEM25 are working towards across Europe and with our Italian partners across Italy.

Do you see any analogies with what happened in Greece in the elections that saw the victory of Syriza?

None at all. Syriza was a pro-European party that rode a wave of hope and positivity. The Lega, Berlusconi and the smaller parties of the Italian right received votes based on fear, pessimism and xenophobia. The only connection between our two countries is that we are both in the clasps of a systemic European crisis that the European establishment refuses to recognise as systemic.

What’s your view of the Five Star? Do you categorise them as a populist movement or as a new left?

No party that invests in fear of the migrant, of the ‘other’, the refugee can pose as left-wing. The term ‘populist’, in my mind, has been widely abused of recent. In terms of domestic economic policies, Five Star is clearly trying to re-position itself as a centrist party that can be trusted by the establishment. It tries to maintain its perceived radicalism by targeting the old political class and it corrupt ways while refraining from challenging the ‘system’ itself.

The Future of Mandatory Forced Vaccinations For All | Light On Conspiracies – Revealing the Agenda

The Future of Mandatory Forced Vaccinations For All | Light On Conspiracies – Revealing the Agenda

09-03-18 10:10:00,

from aplanetruth.info:

Less than 3% of the nation’s population has chosen to either limit and/or delay vaccinations or exercise their inherent free will choice to build their children’s, and their own, immunity systems though healthy nutrition, diet and exercise. Over the past 6 months the Federal and many State governments in the United States is radiply passing laws to completely take away a parents right to decide what is ultimately best for their children’s health and well being.

We’re creating viewer supported news. Become a member! Click Here!

This video documentary makes the case for why these parents are choosing to wait, delay or abstain from CDC recommend, and now in 3 States or no schooling, required vaccinations. Though it has been framed as a safety issue to communities, the Pro Choice/Anti- Vaxer’s make a very compelling argument as to why they are the final author of authority to protect and promote the health and all around welfare of the children in their care.

Kenny Valenzuela of Experimental Vaccines lays out the many dangers and injuries that has been caused by vaccines, why Big Pharma and Big Business is enjoying record revenue and profits from the new legislations being enacted across the country.

CA Senator, Dr. Richard Pan, is also seen just weeks before he came out with SB277 in California to eliminate personal exemptions for children in schools, prominently attending and speaking at a Scottish-Rite Freemason Ceremony in Sacramento, as well as receiving millions of dollars from Big Pharma for his run for Senate.

We also go into the future of over 300 Genetically Modified vaccines in the pipeline being designed and developed to further inoculate all, including a vaccine for Autism, which evidence is overwhelmingly showing, is caused by the vaccines! Please visit AVVI.info

Washington Just Blew Up a Latvian Bank As Part of Its Financial War on Russia

Washington Just Blew Up a Latvian Bank As Part of Its Financial War on Russia

09-03-18 08:29:00,

F. William Engdahl has been writing about energy, finance, geopolitics, and oil since the early 1980s, and his writing about Russia, a country which he travels to frequently, has been simply excellent.

An American, he lives in Berlin, Germany, and speaks fluent German, a language in which he is also widely published. He is the author of several books.

Engdahl is a heavy-weight, and always worth listening to.

Washington has begun a new phase in its geopolitical financial warfare in the small Baltic republic of Latvia. Within days it managed to force the Latvian government and the European Central Bank to force the dissolution of Latvia’s third largest bank without even a hint of a legal process.

Whatever the true relation of Latvia’s ABLV Bank AS to money laundering, to North Korea or to Russia, the Washington move can be seen as an ominous precedent for a next phase of blackmail on the financial structures of the European Union or other foreign states not singing the preferred Washington tune.

On February 23, despite the fact that ABLV announced it had raised almost $1.7 billion in four days to stabilize deposit withdrawals, the ECB claimed the bank lacked adequate liquidity and deemed it “failing or likely to fail,” committing it to Europe’s Single Resolution Board for dissolution. The move followed by hours the arrest of the Latvia representative on the ECB Governing Council, Latvia Central Bank Governor Ilmars Rimsevics, amid bribery allegations in a case supposedly not linked to ABLV’s takedown by the ECB. He was released two days later without being charged, but the timing is highly suspicious.

At that point the ECB instructed the Latvian supervisory authority, the Financial and Capital Markets Commission (FCMC), to impose a moratorium on the bank to give time to the bank to stabilize its situation. A moratorium was also imposed by the Luxembourg authorities for the subsidiary of the bank in Luxembourg.

US Treasury Action

Remarkable about the ECB action to shut down the Latvian bank was that it followed just days after a February 13 US Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) “draft measure”

naming

ABLV Bank an “institution of primary money laundering concern pursuant to Section 311 of the USA PATRIOT Act.” The US announcement,

The Creature from Jekyll Island – Unprofessional Propaganda Book | Armstrong Economics

The_Creature_from_Jekyll_Island-2

QUESTION: Martin. Have you read the book Creature of Jekyll Island by Edward Griffin it is about the Feds and how they control? Many years ago I thought it was fiction but after reading it again it is true. My Question what can we do money will be what they want it to be the control?

ST

ANSWER: The book you refer to is I believe is just propaganda. There were even people listed as attendees who were not, such as Charles D. Norton. The meeting was in secret BECAUSE this was the rising period of Marxism, which was very popular before the Russian Revolution of 1917. All bankers were seen as evil. I have written about this before. That book is highly dangerous for it completely misrepresents the facts and fails to understand that elastic money began in the 1850s and was created privately by clearing houses. It worked perfectly fine and it was not economically disastrous but BENEFICIAL! This is the entire foundation of cryptocurrencies all based upon the fact that they ASSUME the Fed is evil. We now have countless cryptocurrencies issued the very same way we had countless banks issuing money before the system collapsed.

The ability to create money by the Federal Reserve is essential as originally designed. However, that design was directly beneficial for it would buy ONLY short-term corporate paper in a crisis when banks could not lend. Buying corporate paper saved jobs. The key was a simple fact it was corporate and NOT the government. Corporates have to pay back – the government does not.

It was not that the Fed was evil, it was that the Fed was usurped by Congress during World War I and directed to buy only the paper of the government. It was that aspect that has altered the role of the central bank and is demonstrated why the ECB in Europe now own 40% of all government debt and they cannot stop without creating a crisis. Elastic money was a good solution when it actually expanded in a shortage and contracted in surplus. That was ONLY possible when it was corporate paper and when the government ordered government paper should be bought EXCLUSIVELY,

“Fake News” and World War III. The Danger of Nuclear Annihilation | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

“Fake News” and World War III. The Danger of Nuclear Annihilation | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

09-03-18 08:20:00,

This text presents an assessment which is “censored” by the search engines. Kindly consider forwarding it to your friends and colleagues as well as crossposting it on alternative media and blog sites.

The threat of World War III is real, yet there is no anti-war movement in sight.  In the US, Canada and the EU, the peace movement is defunct, ignorant of the broader implications of nuclear war.

This is why, dear readers we call upon your support. Establish community networks, spread the word, organize at the grassroots level.

***

We are at a dangerous crossroads in our history.

The dangers of a Third World War are routinely obfuscated by the media. A world of fantasy permeates the mainstream media which tacitly upholds the conduct of nuclear war as a peace-making endeavor.

World War III is terminal. Albert Einstein understood the perils of nuclear war and the extinction of life on earth, which has already started with the radioactive contamination resulting from depleted uranium, not to mention Fukushima.

“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

The media, the intellectuals, the scientists and the politicians, in chorus, obfuscate the untold truth, namely that war using nuclear warheads destroys humanity.

“Fake News” has become “Real News”.

And “Real News” by the independent online media is now tagged as Russian propaganda.

In turn, the independent media (including Global Research) is the object of censorship via the search engines and social media.

What we are dealing with is a War against the Truth. Objective reporting on the dangers of a Third World war is being suppressed. Why?

The future of humanity is at stake. The danger of nuclear annihilation is not front-page news.

The unfolding consensus among Pentagon war planners is that a Third World War is “Winnable”.

Nuclear War as an “Instrument of Peace”

Concepts are turned upside down. Political insanity prevails.

A diabolical discourse is unfolding.

44 Things You Didn’t Know About Oil

44 Things You Didn’t Know About Oil

09-03-18 08:15:00,

Authored by Viktor Katuna via OilPrice.com,

Whenever you see a headline like this, you know it will go along the lines of “did you know that petroleum stands for rock oil?” Yes you did, goes the reply of an overwhelming majority of readers.

For this reason, the list below is one which holds the reader in high esteem, as a dear colleague on the road to broaden our knowledge of the oil industry. So here we go…

1.) Oil’s first use was for caulking – ruins from early Antiquity (5-6 000 BC) testify that Euphrates and Indus Valley civilizations built their houses with bitumen. Caulking their ships with bitumen logically followed soon afterwards.

2.) Both Tamerlane and Nadir Shah used camels laden with petroleum casks to frighten off Indian war elephants – once set on fire, the sight of fire made the elephants flee in panic.

3.) A first in Europe, oil exported from Venezuela in 1539 was used to treat the gout of Emperor Charles V.

4.) People of the Caspian Basin used oil to cure their camels’ mange.

5.) Drilling was invented by the Chinese, using the cable tool percussion method, presumably during the 2nd millennium BC.

6.) The Chinese know-how of drilling found its way to Europe thanks to the Catholic missionary Father Imbert, whose 1828 description of salt drilling methods paved the way for the development of oil drilling as we know it now.

7.) In Medieval times, Caspian oil was transported in sealskin bags. (The Caspian seal was substantially more common back then, now it is an endangered species mostly due to radical habitat shrinking.) In other adjacent regions, sheepskin bags were used.

8.) The Giza pyramids were glued together with bitumen.

9.) Up until the early 20th century, oil was considered to be an excellent cure for diphtheria.

10.) Oddly enough, up to the First World War, airplane fuel was blended with castor oil, irritating pilots to the point of constant diarrhea.

11.) The first-ever oil tanker, Zoroaster, was sunk alongside six other ships near the Azerbaijani coast to create a platform for a new offshore field.

5 Days After Putin’s Warning About the Dangers of Western Warmongering & This Is Where We Are

5 Days After Putin’s Warning About the Dangers of Western Warmongering & This Is Where We Are

08-03-18 05:47:00,

Evidence presented? Zero.

Less than 24 hours after alleged former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, have allegedly been found in a collapsed state on a park bench in Salisbury, with no official claims of foul play and noannouncement of likely cause, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is already announcing what he plans to do “If things turn out to be, as many members on both sides of the House suspect they are.”

If it turns out the “malign and disruptive” (Johnson’s own words) Kremlin poisoned them (which is what Johnson all but told the House of Commons he believed to be the case), then there are going to be more sanctions against Russia and possibly a UK boycott of the World Cup.

Speedy response is it not? Almost as if he were ready on the starting blocks for this latest tragedy to unfold.

The media of course are rolling in it like dogs in ordure. The Guardian has three front page stories going at the time of writing:

The

Telegraph

 has two:

The Daily Mail has this going on:

And the Independent is bannering this:

Meanwhile the BBC, not content with pumping out the required xenophobic hysteria on the front page:

also takes its own tabloid track in the sub pages, with a story suggesting Putinmay also have had a hand in murdering his former boss Anatoly Sobchak. This is the grimy hit piece in question:

…suddenly, just as Putin was running for president for the first time, his old friend Anatoly Sobchak died…The autopsy said it was cardiac arrest but can’t find any trace of a heart attack. Sobchak’s widow suspected foul play and had her own autopsy done.

Her name is Lyudmila Narusova. I met her recently and asked her if she thought her husband had been murdered. She paused long enough to say “Yes” 10 times over, and then replied: “I don’t know.”

Some have suggested Putin may have had a hand in his death.

Climate Change – Catastrophic or Linear Slow Progression? | Armstrong Economics

Climate Change – Catastrophic or Linear Slow Progression? | Armstrong Economics

08-03-18 08:56:00,

woolyrhinoIndeed, science was turned on its head after a discovery in 1772 near Vilui, Siberia, of an intact frozen woolly rhinoceros, which was followed by the more famous discovery of a frozen mammoth in 1787. You may be shocked, but these discoveries of frozen animals with grass still in their stomachs set in motion these two schools of thought since the evidence implied you could be eating lunch and suddenly find yourself frozen, only to be discovered by posterity.

baby-mammoth

The discovery of the woolly rhinoceros in 1772, and then frozen mammoths, sparked the imagination that things were not linear after all. These major discoveries truly contributed to the “Age of Enlightenment” where there was a burst of knowledge erupting in every field of inquisition. Such finds of frozen mammoths in Siberia continue to this day. This has challenged theories on both sides of this debate to explain such catastrophic events. These frozen animals in Siberia suggest strange events are possible even in climates that are not that dissimilar from the casts of dead victims who were buried alive after the volcanic eruption of 79 AD at Pompeii in ancient Roman Italy. Animals can be grazing and then suddenly freeze abruptly. That climate change was long before man invented the combustion engine.

Even the field of geology began to create great debates that perhaps the earth simply burst into a catastrophic convulsion and indeed the planet was cyclical — not linear. This view of sequential destructive upheavals at irregular intervals or cycles emerged during the 1700s. This school of thought was perhaps best expressed by a forgotten contributor to the knowledge of mankind, George Hoggart Toulmin in his rare 1785 book, “The Eternity of the World“:

” ••• convulsions and revolutions violent beyond our experience or conception, yet unequal to the destruction of the globe, or the whole of the human species, have both existed and will again exist ••• [terminating] ••• an astonishing succession of ages.”

Dear Mr. President, I’m Writing You Because Nuclear Winter or Peace with Russia Is Your Only Choice. | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

Dear Mr. President, I’m Writing You Because Nuclear Winter or Peace with Russia Is Your Only Choice. | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

06-03-18 10:18:00,

The Russian Brass has patiently and ceaselessly argued since almost the inception of the modern Russian state that the United States and NATO missile shield elements, when used in conjunction with a surprise nuclear attack to mop up whatever surviving retaliatory nuclear missiles are launched from Russian territory, have shattered the tenuous peace M.A.D. affords us and has restarted the cold war down an even darker and more dangerous path for all of humanity, future and present.

This military adventure and scrapping of ballistic missile treaties long past the planning stages as of Bush Jr’s helm suggests reducing Russian territory and cityscapes to infernos of radioactive rubble, and receiving limited but acceptable reprisal attacks, thus in there minds at least shattering the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction.

Some of them believe they can win a Nuclear war, or they must because they have it embedded now in military doctrine including in academies and the battlefield in numerous drills.

Subservient media peddles the war propaganda for the times. I don’t need to watch CNN or likewise to know we are being lied to, but it becomes painfully obvious when people do, no doubt.

US military planners actually believe that they can for decades embargo countries, openly plan for their nuclear destruction, and strangle and encircle them militarily while running threatening drills and developing and fielding so-called defensive weapons on Russia’s doorstep without them upping the anty as they have been forced to, fielding deadlier and more evasive nuclear delivery systems.

Remember, as scary as MSNBC or CNN or whatever criminal syndicate is ranting about how provocative and dangerous Russia is in announcing all these deadly countermeasures, just tell your people that these are bald faced lies and Russia was forced into this position, into having to project power, having to show its hand, and that indeed its these Russian offensive measures that are keeping us hopefully within the realm of a non starter as far as starting a Nuclear war with Russia goes.

The balance of Mutually Assured Destruction is back in full force and its up to the US administration and Military to accept that and abandon there Skitzafrenic plans for defeating Russia militarily.

Here is my letter to the President.

Why Does a Prominent U.S. Senator Think Killing Millions of Koreans Would Be “Worth It”?

Why Does a Prominent U.S. Senator Think Killing Millions of Koreans Would Be “Worth It”?

06-03-18 07:19:00,

Why do so many leading U.S. politicians make mass murder sound like an ad for L’Oréal?

Go back to May 1996, when Leslie Stahl of “60 Minutes” sat down with Madeleine Albright, the then-U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. “We have heard that a half million children have died,” Stahl said, referring to the reported impact of United Nations sanctions on Iraq. “I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And — and you know, is the price worth it?”

To which the dead-eyed Albright replied: “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it.”

Half a million dead kids. Worth it. A now-infamous statement, which was much-quoted across the Middle East, yet provoked no public outcry in the United States at the time: no banner headlines, no scathing op-eds, no political fallout whatsoever. In fact, the very next year, the much-lauded Albright was promoted to secretary of state. It would take the former Clinton administration official seven long years to show even an ounce of regret or contrition for her outrageous remark, finally calling it “crazy” and a “terrible mistake” in her 2003 memoir, “Madam Secretary.”

Now, fast-forward to March 2018.

“All the damage that would come from a war [with North Korea] would be worth it in terms of long-term stability and national security,” Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said in an interview with CNN last week.

What would that “damage” look like? Whether nuclear or non-nuclear, multiple studies and surveys of experts suggest millions of innocent North Koreans, South Koreans, and Japanese could be killed in such a conflict, making the wars in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan look like minor skirmishes in comparison.

Top U.S. officials seem to agree. Listen to Defense Secretary James Mattis, speaking to CBS News in May 2017: “A conflict in North Korea … would be probably the worst kind of fighting in most people’s lifetimes.”

Listen to Gen. Joseph Dunford, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaking at the Aspen Security Forum in July 2017: “It would be a loss of life unlike any we have experienced in our lifetimes.

Is China Neoliberal? | Asia-Pacific Research

06-03-18 06:58:00,

On 2 March, the Real News interviewed Steve Cohn, author of Competing Economic Paradigms in China (Routledge, 2017). Host Sharmini Peries began by asking:

Professor Cohn, in your book you analyze the transition of the Chinese economy from Maoist to ‘iron rice bowl’ policy to a neoliberal policy. What kind of domestic factors contributed to this transition?

Part of Cohn’s response was:

… I think the Chinese government, starting with Deng Xiaoping but has continued since then, came to the conclusion that certain capitalist-oriented policies were necessary to increase the social surplus under the state’s control and also to prevent China from falling behind technologically. These leaders, I think, felt that neoclassical economics was a reliable theory that would facilitate this project of adopting some capitalist techniques, and they supported it very aggressively in many ways… [emphasis added]

China neoliberal?

The present writer has been living off-and-on in various parts of China since 2003. At first I was skeptical to Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, but I have observed the development in China first-hand along with the decline of poverty (as evidenced by the relative scarcity of mendicancy and homelessness).

Neoliberalism

What is neoliberalism? To start, it is not new, and it is not liberal. It is predicated on prioritizing the private sphere over the public sphere; i.e., allowing the so-called free-market to decide. Hence, the role of the government is to be minimized, with privatization, cutting social programs, deregulating finance, and imposing austerity prescribed.

Yet, can one seriously ascribe neoliberalism to China with its state-owned enterprises, state-owned banks, and expanding social programs?

In his book Profit over People: Neoliberalism and Global Order (Seven Stories Press, 1999), distinguished professor Noam Chomsky referred to a World Bank report that China was not following neoliberal dictates; instead China was described as “the most interventionist and price-distorting government of all.”

Chomsky quoted the eminent economic historian Paul Bairoch who stated that

“there is no doubt that the third world’s compulsory economic liberalism in the nineteenth century is a major element in explaining the delay in its industrialization.”

Given the enviable economic development of China,
