Around 800,000 PG&E customers in California are facing power cuts this week after the company announced it would take the drastic measure in order to limit the risk of their power lines sparking serious fires.

Some 20,000 customers are already affected, as the roll-out began in some places at midnight local time and will continue to be widened out to 34 counties across California.

Law enforcement in the affected areas are warning motorists to take extra care on the streets and to bear in mind that traffic lights will not be functioning over the shut-down period.

Public Safety Power Shutoff in Marin is underway. Currently no traffic lights at the intersection of N. Bridge and Bridgway Blvd in Sausalito/Marin City. Please use caution and treat outages at traffic lights as 4-way stops. #MarinPSPS#pgeshutoffpic.twitter.com/ZVxJfyXOnj

The power cut is being implemented out of fears that unusually high winds could bring lines down, sparking forest and scrub fires that could burn out of control. This summer, the company permanently retired a high-voltage line that sparked the worst wildfire in the state’s history.

Paradise lost: Terrifying bodycam VIDEO shows desperate escape from deadly Camp Fire

The Camp Fire killed 85 people and razed the town of Paradise in November 2018. One person remains unaccounted for. PG&E, which filed for bankruptcy in June, is facing $13 billion in claims from the fire’s victims.

The company says power restoration will start on Thursday, but could continue into early next week, depending on conditions and line damage. PG&E is coming under heavy criticism for the cut online, with the company’s name and the hashtags #pgeshutoff and #poweroutage all trending on Twitter.

Public anger has particularly focused on the company’s apparent inability to bolster its own infrastructure against wind, and on how bizarre it is that a utilities company is even allowed to just shut off power to thousands of homes.

For anyone who still claims capitalism is an optimal system, 100k people in the Bay Area are about to lose power because PG&E has discovered that’s cheaper than fixing their infrastructure

A school said its total ban on pupils using mobile phones has improved exam results and behaviour.

The ban, which has been running for a year, has “made a massive difference” said Ann Webb, headteacher at Ysgol John Bright, in Llandudno .

The strict rule applies at any time during the school day, even during breaks or at lunchtime. Staff are also asked not to use mobile phones in front of pupils.

Mrs Webb said pupils are now more sociable and concentrate better in lessons.

And she claimed that the ban, which was introduced in 2018, helped pupils get better GCSE and A level results this summer.

Ysgol John Bright

At GCSE level, the school saw a 10% improvement on last year’s results with nearly a quarter of pupils getting five A* or A grades.

At A-level 79 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades with 62 per cent getting at least one A and 11 per cent three As.

“I can’t envisage us ever going back to allowing the pupils to bring out their mobile phones now,” said Mrs Webb.

“Because they’re not glued to their phones when they arrive at school, they have to engage in social communication and when they go to the library they’re looking at books instead of their phones or they’re discussing things with their peers.

“It’s also made a difference to engagement in lessons because the phones are not available as a distraction.”

If any pupil is caught using a mobile phone anywhere on the campus it is confiscated until the end of the school day.

Their parent or carer is contacted if this keeps happening and the phone will not be returned until they come in to pick it up.

The “black and white rule” is strictly enforced.

A County In New York Has Completely BANNED All Unvaccinated Children From ALL Public Places | Light On Conspiracies – Revealing the Agenda

a-county-in-new-york-has-completely-banned-all-unvaccinated-children-from-all-public-places-|-light-on-conspiracies-–-revealing-the-agenda

One county in New York is taking extremely drastic measures in an attempt to force all children to get vaccinated for measles.  Starting on Wednesday, any child that has not received the measles vaccine will be banned from all public places.  That means that they will not be able to go to school, to church or to any store.  In fact, just walking down the sidewalk will be a violation of this countywide “state of emergency”.  Rockland County has essentially declared a state of medical martial law, and it is scheduled to last for the next 30 days

Rockland County declared a countywide State of Emergency relating to the ongoing measles outbreak — the longest outbreak since the disease was eradicated in the United States in 2000, according to officials.

Effective at the stroke of midnight, Wednesday, anyone who is under 18 years of age and unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until this declaration expires in 30 days or until they receive the MMR vaccination.

So what has caused Rockland County to go to such extremes?

According to Rockland County Executive Ed Day, something had to be done because there have been 153 confirmed cases of measles in the county.

And the penalties that will be imposed upon anyone convicted of violating this state of medical martial law are quite draconian

Anyone found in violation of the declaration could spend six months in jail and/or a $500 fine, Day said. However, Day said the county is not looking to arrest people, but rather a means to grab the public’s attention.

According to Day, county officials have been met with “pockets of resistance” from people unwilling to comply with health department advise and this played a part in the declaration.

Of course other communities all across America will be watching to see how the people of Rockland County respond to this declaration of medical martial law.  If there is no uproar, it will set a very important national precedent, and inevitably other local governments around the nation will try the exact same thing.

And where will it stop?

Will all vaccines eventually be forced upon us in such a manner?
