Did CIA Director Gina Haspel run a black site at Guantánamo?

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, Cuba — An attorney for the accused architect of the Sept. 11 attacks told a judge in a secret session last year that CIA Director Gina Haspel ran a secret agency outpost at Guantánamo, an apparent reference to a post-9/11 black site, according to a recently declassified transcript.

The claim by Rita Radostitz, a lawyer for Khalid Sheik Mohammed, appears in one paragraph of a partially redacted transcript of a secret hearing held at Guantánamo on Nov. 16. Defense lawyers were arguing, in a motion that ultimately failed, that Haspel’s role at the prison precludes the possibility of a fair trial for the men accused of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks who were also held for years in covert CIA prisons.

Neither the public nor the accused was allowed to attend the hearing but, following an intelligence review, the Pentagon released portions of its transcript on a war court website.

Haspel reportedly ran a CIA black site in Thailand where two terror suspects were waterboarded, probably before her arrival there. The unverified statement that she had a similar assignment at the terror-detention center at the U.S. Navy base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, would reveal a never-before disclosed chapter of the spy chief’s clandestine career.

The CIA declined to comment on the claim.

But in the transcript of a discussion about CIA torture and restrictions on the lawyers for the alleged plotters of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, Radostitz notes that prosecutors claim they are “not trying to cover up the torture … But the one thing that they’re not willing to talk about is the names of the people involved in the torture.” Then, after a large censored section, she says, “it makes it impossible for people at Guantánamo, who may have seen her when she was here as chief of base, to identify her and talk about it.”

Chief of base is a CIA term for the officer in charge of a secret foreign outpost. A 2014 Senate study of the CIA’s network of secret overseas prisons, called black sites, said the CIA had two such secret prisons at Guantánamo in 2003 and 2004 — apart from the Pentagon’s Guantánamo prison known as Camp Delta.

Ron Paul: Haspel Is Not The Problem…The CIA Is The Problem

Ron Paul: Haspel Is Not The Problem…The CIA Is The Problem

23-05-18 07:02:00,

If you live outside DC, you’re a foreigner, if outside wall street, you’re an alien, and if outside the MIC, you’re DISPENSABLE! November 2018, will be the battle between privilege, and disenfranchised.

If you want your Republic, you’re gonna hafta fight for it. So, start recruiting your liberty battalions, the fight will be LOCAL, the victory, NATIONAL!

This is not the time for “theory”, come November, the rubber meets the road!

Don’t argue with recruits, don’t browbeat them, just ask questions, and LISTEN! It’ll take many attempts before you succeed in making em SEE the light and that’s why you need to LISTEN, so you can recalibrate your questions to them.

Ask questions like:

“what if you had more money in your pocket?”

“what if you had less stress in your life?”

“what if you had less fear in your life?”

“what if you had more time for family?”

Use your imagination folks! Let them talk, ramble, or what have you, your part is to LISTEN, ATTENTIVELY and SYMPATHETICALLY! Don’t judge them, just listen, and you’ll discover what they’ll BUY!

After understanding their preferences, integrate it into your pitch, and gently, but SURELY make the PITCH that what they really DESIRE, is LIBERTY! Freedom to LIVE life ABUNDANTLY.

Do that, and you have an auxiliary vote in the bag. Now, you need to understand, you’re RESPONSIBLE for your auxiliaries, so don’t betray their confidence by fighting on behalf of dirt bags!

Choose your candidates CAREFULLY, you’re gonna be fighting for them, alongside your auxiliaries, make it worth your energy.

One auxiliary, two auxiliaries, no auxiliaries, thousands of auxiliaries, it matters not! What matters, is the FIGHT IN YOU, not the you in the fight!

Good luck, God speed, happy Liberty RECOVERY!…

Gina Haspel and Pinocchio From Rome

Gina Haspel and Pinocchio From Rome

21-05-18 09:27:00,

Being in Rome, Italy and thinking of Gina Haspel, the CIA nominee and admitted torturer who says her “moral conscience” has changed after the fact, seems most fitting.  Wherever you go in central Rome, you can hear the screams and smell the blood of those tortured and killed by the Roman Empire and those who ably followed in their stead.   And you can see the crumbled stones and the pathetic architectural remains of those who thought they had triumphed.  Their triumph turned to dust, and their belated mea culpas, if and when they ever came, always rang as hollow as Gina Haspel’s, Lt. William Calley’s, and Adolph Eichmann’s excuses that they were only doing their jobs and following orders.

Throughout Rome there are hawkers dangling Pinocchio trinkets in your face, constant reminders of the cost of lying.  Or perhaps more aptly, the fame that ensues from lying followed by a childish semi-apology, even when it’s as obvious as the nose on your face that you are lying still. So in the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing Haspel was asked by Senator Mark Warner, D-VA., the kind of question that allows a respondent to answer in a deceptive way that means nothing, but seems profoundly sincere. Warned asked:

If this president asked you to do something that you find morally objectionable, even if there is an [Office of Legal Counsel] opinion, what will you do? Will you carry out that order or not?

To which Haspel replied:

Senator, my moral conscience is strong.  I would not allow the CIA to carry out any activity that I thought was immoral – even if it was technically legal.  I would absolutely not permit it.

From all reports, neither Warner’s nor Haspel’s nose grew longer, but perhaps such deceptive phrasing slyly falls beyond the parameters of Pinocchio’s sins and the Blue Fairy’s sanctions.

So the woman who oversaw detainee torture at a CIA “black site” in Thailand tells us she has a strong moral conscience, but she doesn’t tell us what that conscience considers intrinsically evil, if anything. Nor what that “strong” moral conscience considers moral or immoral in any way, just that the “CIA must undertake activities that are consistent with American values,” whatever they might be.  And if she were ordered to carry out an action – let’s say kill a foreign agent or assassinate a political leader – that was technically illegal but accorded with her strong moral conscience,
