CBS “60 Minutes” On Deep Sea Mining for “Conflict Minerals” and Warnings It May Wreck the Seafloor and Everything Living There – Activist Post

Metals required to operate common digital, electronic, and wireless devices are often referred to as “Conflict Minerals.”  This is because there are known environmental and humanitarian costs associated with mining for them – at least on land.

Those who want to mine for metals on the sea floor refer to it as “harvesting.”  Unfortunately, they also want to send gargantuan robots down there to do this.  Many environmentalists warn that this is a bad idea.  Ya think?

From CBS:

With supplies of some critical metals running low, the race to develop underwater crawlers, like this one led by a Dutch group, is in high gear. But some scientists fear that deep sea mining will wreck the seafloor, a world not fully understood. This rare, albino octopus, nicknamed Casper, a species only discovered three years ago.

Dr. Craig Smith: When we go out and collect a sample on the seafloor, we collect hundreds of new species.

Bill Whitaker: Things that you’ve never seen before?

Dr. Craig Smith: Sure, oh yeah, yeah.

Craig Smith is an oceanographer at the University of Hawaii. He told us he was surprised at how much life could survive three miles deep. His expeditions to the CCZ have turned up fantastical creatures like this squidworm, or a fluorescent sea cucumber dubbed a “gummy squirrel.” There are other deep sea originals too: a foot-long shrimp, a ping pong tree sponge, and a galloping sea urchin.

Bill Whitaker: Mining companies say that the CCZ is only about 1% of the ocean. That the ocean is so vast that– it could absorb the activity in that–

Dr. Craig Smith: Right…

Dr. Craig Smith: –a little bit like saying the Amazon Rainforest is only 8% of the– the global land area so we can wipe it out and it doesn’t matter.

Bill Whitaker: Won’t deep sea mining actually be less invasive, have less of an impact than mining on land?

Dr. Craig Smith: I would say no. Mining is mining. I think it’s similar to strip mining on land.

“60 Minutes” Australia Reports Contaminated Air May Be Sickening and Killing Pilots and Passengers

08-09-19 08:03:00,

By B.N. Frank

Friendly skies?

A recent 60 Minutes Australia segment reports how you and your loved ones may not want to board a plane ever again without wearing hazmat suits.

Of course, contaminated air may not be the only culprit.  Airplanes are full of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) sometimes referred to as “Electrosmog”.  Besides standard electrical operating equipment, most planes now offer free WiFi (a source of wireless radiation) to passengers.  Exposure to toxic chemicals combined with exposure to Electromagnetic Fields – including WiFi – increases the toxic body burden.

Wireless radiation impairs the body’s ability to protect itself from toxic chemicals by damaging the blood-brain barrier.

As noted in the 60 Minutes segment, some people are more affected by exposure to toxins than others.  Of course, that still doesn’t make it right that any of this is happening.

Activist Post reported last month about retired Naval Pilots “dropping like flies” from cancers they believe have been caused by radiation exposure.

The Air Force study also looked at cockpit exposure, finding that “pilots have greater environmental exposure to ultraviolet and ionizing radiation … (fighter pilots) have unique intra-cockpit exposures to non-ionizing radiation.”

Retired Navy Cmdr. Thomas Hill was a career F-4 and F-14 pilot and squadron commanding officer with more than 3,600 flight hours and more than 960 aircraft carrier landings. Hill was 52 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. In December 2011, at age 60, he learned he also had esophageal cancer.

Wireless WiFi radiation is non-ionizing radiation and exposure can cause a variety of debilitating symptoms and illnesses besides increased cancer risk (see 1, 2).  This is referred to as “Microwave Sickness” or “Electromagnetic Sensitivity”.  CBS 60 Minutes has reported about American Embassy employees being affected by this too.

Activist Post reports regularly about illnesses caused by exposure to all sources of Electrosmog.  For more information,

CBS “60 Minutes” Reports U.S. Embassy Employees’ Brain Trauma Likely From RF Weapons

03-09-19 08:20:00,

By B.N. Frank

How Any RF Exposure (Cell Phones, WiFi, etc.) Can Cause the Same Results

Some call it RadioFrequency (RF) Radiation.  Some call it Microwave Frequency or Microwave Radiation.  Some call it Non-Ionizing Radiation.  Some call it Cell Phone Radiation or Wireless Radiation or WiFi.  No matter what it’s called, decades of research has already determined that exposure to all sources of it is harmful in more ways than increased cancer risk (see 1, 2, 3).

Thanks to CBS “60 Minutes” for reporting about symptoms and injuries suffered by American diplomats, their families, and their pets and how microwave weapons have been suspected if not confirmed.  Unfortunately, any RF exposure can cause symptoms and brain trauma like what they described, so being targeted is not required.  Exposure can cause “Microwave Sickness,” a medically recognized illness that includes a variety of unpleasant and disabling symptoms including what these victims described (see 1, 2, 3).  It can also disrupt the blood-brain barrier which can cause it to leak and even kill brain cells (see 1, 2, 3).  That sounds a lot like brain trauma, doesn’t it?

From CBS “60 Minutes”:

Since 2016, dozens of American officials have come home from Cuba and China with unexplained brain trauma. Evidence shows it may be the work of another government using a weapon that leaves no trace

Catherine Werner: I woke up in the middle of the night. I could feel this sound in my head. Um, it was intense pressure on both of my temples. At the same time, I heard this low humming sound, and it was oscillating. And I remember looking around for where this sound was coming from, because it was painful.

Scott Pelley: When did you first notice that you weren’t feeling well?

Catherine Werner: October of 2017, I started to get hives all over my body. Really bad hives. I woke up with headaches every day.

Ten Minutes to War

22-06-19 08:23:00,

Donald Trump pulled back from igniting a potentially disastrous war in the Persian Gulf on Thursday night with just 10 minutes to spare, but the super-hawks he surrounded himself with will probably try again, writes Joe Lauria.

The commander-in-chief acted like one, if only briefly, on Thursday night when he said he called off air strikes on Iran—and potentially a devastating war in the Persian Gulf—with just ten minutes to spare, because he says a general told him to expect around 150 Iranian civilian deaths.

Donald Trump tweeted Friday morning:

“On Monday (sic) they shot down an unmanned drone flying in International Waters. We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not……..proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. I am in no hurry, our Military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world. Sanctions are biting & more added last night. Iran can NEVER have Nuclear Weapons, not against the USA, and not against the WORLD!”

It seems unlikely that a president would have to ask at the last minute about potential civilian casualties, unless the Pentagon has become so callous as to not have figured that into its war planning.  A more likely scenario is that Donald Trump was in an epic struggle with his most hawkish national security advisers—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Advisor John Bolton—and with himself, and that he could not decide what to do until literally the last ten minutes, using the excuse of civilian deaths to pull back.

Trump’s inner struggle on Iran has played out in public, mostly on Twitter. He has been sending seriously mixed signals to Iran: on the one hand he has told Iran he wants to negotiate with them to replace the nuclear deal he unwisely pulled out of last year and on the other hand he’s gone as far as threatening what amounts to genocide.

Greece’s 15 minutes of fame may be gone, but its ordeal is far from over

Greece’s 15 minutes of fame may be gone, but its ordeal is far from over

18-12-17 11:31:00,

Though Greece is out of the world news spotlight, it does not mean that the EU’s multi-pronged demolition of the Hellenic Republic has ceased.

A radical left Alexis Tsipras was easily brought to heel by the Brussels mafia, and has been kept in power as caretaker for the pillaging taking place, while the EU strips Greece of all its assets.

Globalist EU oligarchs are turning the nation into a tourist disney land bought up by foreign capital, with dozens of migrant camps sprinkled across islands once inhabited by Gods.

It’s time to revisit the Greek crisis that sees no end in sight.

Tamara de Lempicka The refugees 1937

Authored by Raul Ilargi Meijer via The Automatic Earth blog,

Note: I feel kind of sorry this has become such a long essay. But I still left out so much. You know by now I care a lot about Greece, and it’s high time for another look, and another update, and another chance for people to understand what is happening to the country, and why. To understand that hardly any of it is because the Greeks had so much debt and all of that narrative.

The truth is, Greece was set up to be a patsy for the failure of Europe’s financial system, and is now being groomed simultaneously as a tourist attraction to benefit foreign investors who buy Greek assets for pennies on the dollar, and as an internment camp for refugees and migrants that Europe’s ‘leaders’ view as a threat to their political careers more than anything else.

I would almost say: here we go again, but in reality we never stopped going. It’s just that Greece’s 15 minutes of fame may be long gone, but its ordeal is far from over. If you read through this, you will understand why that is. The EU is deliberately, and without any economic justification, destroying one of its own member states, destroying its entire economy.

A short article in Greek paper Kathimerini last week detailed the latest new cuts in pensions the Troika has imposed on Greece, and it’s now getting beyond absurd. For an economy to function, you need people spending money. That is what keeps jobs alive,
