An interview conducted by Iran’s FNA

FNA: Netanyahu was very quick to administrate a lockdown at the outset of the coronavirus outbreak in Israel. Was Covid-19 his only reason for the lockdown?

Gilad: You are tapping here into a crucial aspect of the Covid 19 affair which none of the Western media has been brave enough to look into. As early as March 12, the Israeli PM announced nationwide school closures and urged the formation of an emergency unity government to “save the lives of tens of thousands” of Israelis from the coronavirus, Netanyahu presented a profoundly stark assessment in which there would be “tens of millions of deaths” worldwide unless the pandemic was stopped. Political analysts who follow Netanyahu closely immediately understood that Netanyahu desperately needed the pandemic and the hysteria around it. And it is clear that the Israeli PM managed to utilize the corona crisis to serve his cause. He postponed his trial. He formed a large unity government and practically destroyed both his rival party (Blue & White) and its leader Benny Gantz. So it was no surprise that once Netanyahu was finally able to form his unity government, Israel was relieved of its lockdown: Israelis were free to enjoy the sun again. Far more peculiar is the fact that the rest of us needed Netanyahu to form his government so that our leaders would also allow us to enjoy the blue sky.

FNA: The political deadlock came to an end with the formation of an emergency cabinet to address the coronavirus outbreak. Why did Netanyahu unite with his forever rival Benny Gantz after they competed with him for power for over a year? Why did he make such an abrupt political u-turn?

Gilad: We are often misled into believing that the Jewish state is a pluralist political entity divided between Left and Right political blocks.

Netanyahu Is Back Yet Again. Israel Will Become Much Bigger – Global Research

    28-04-20 07:10:00,

Rahm Emanuel, up until recently the mayor of Chicago and before that a top advisor to the president in the Bill Clinton and Barack Obama White Houses and still earlier a volunteer in the Israeli Army, famously once commented that a good crisis should never be allowed to go to waste. He meant, of course, that a crisis can be exploited to provide cover for other shenanigans involving politicians. It was an observation that was particularly true when one was working for a sexual predator like Bill, who once attacked a “terrorist” pharmaceutical factory in Sudan to divert attention away from the breaking Monica Lewinski scandal.

To be sure, the United States government is focusing its attention on the coronavirus while also using the cover afforded to heighten the pressure on “enemies” near and far. As the coronavirus continues to spread, the Trump White House and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have increased the ferocity of their sabre rattling, apparently in part to deter Russia, China, Iran and Venezuela. Ironically, of course, none of the countries being intimidated are actually threatening the United States, but we Americans have long since learned that perceptions are more important than facts when it comes to the current occupant of the oval office and his two predecessors.

The latest bit of mendacity coming out of the White House was a presidential tweet targeting the usual punching bag, Iran. Based on an incident that occurred two weeks ago, Trump threatened “I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea.” Iran’s flying gunboats are clearly a formidable force but it is certainly reassuring to note that naval anti-aircraft fire has been directed to deal with them. The U.S. Navy ships in question are, one might also observe, in a body of water generally referred to as the Persian Gulf, where they are carrying out maneuvers right off of the Iranian coast. Meanwhile, Iranian flying gunboats have not yet been observed off of New Jersey, but they are probably waiting to be transported to the Eastern Seaboard by those huge trans-oceanic gliders that once upon a time were allegedly being constructed by Saddam Hussein.

Netanyahu/Gantz Unity Deal… Safeguarding Israel’s “Democracy”. Annexation of West Bank Ongoing – Global Research

    21-04-20 06:53:00,

A weeks earlier agreement between them collapsed, a new unity deal struck.

Netanyahu prevailed. Gantz’s surrender to his demands split his Blue and White (B &W) party.

It may have ended his chance to become prime minister, his political career perhaps ruined by reportedly agreeing to most Netanyahu demands — a Gantz Versailles as things now stand.

On Monday night, capitulation was formalized, a “national emergency government” formed, ending over a year of political stalemate.

    Gantz tweeted the following:

“We prevented fourth elections. We’ll safeguard democracy” (that’s nonexistent under apartheid rule).

“We’ll fight the coronavirus and look out for all Israeli citizens. We have a national emergency government.”

Netanyahu remains prime minister at least for the next 18 months, Gantz to serve as deputy PM and war minister with veto power over who’ll serve as Knesset speaker, Gantz ally Gabi Ashkenazi (another former IDF chief) to be foreign minister.

Terms of the deal give Netanyahu veto power over appointments of Israel’s next attorney general and state prosecutor.

In other words, he’ll have say over who’ll prosecute him for bribery, fraud and breach of trust in trial proceedings scheduled to begin on May 24 — unless postponed again, a real possibility.

Netanyahu and Gantz will share power on appointment of new judges, along with other members of Likud and remnants of the Blue and White party.

Given how Netanyahu got Gantz to capitulate on key terms of their deal, the PM will likely have most say on who’ll become appointed judges, ones favoring his interests likely to be chosen.

Should coalition government unravel during the next 18 months, Gantz would take over as prime minister.

If Netanyahu retains the post over this time period and remains free from imprisonment for serious offenses, it’s unclear if he’ll relinquish his portfolio to Gantz as terms of their deal stipulate.

All along from early last year to now, he manipulated things to get his way, his tactics likely to continue as long as he remains in power.

Yet Israel’s High Court could disrupt his best laid plans by disqualifying him from serving as prime minister if convicted of charges against him.

Gantz and Netanyahu reportedly agree on annexing West Bank — and liberal Zionists appeal to Pelosi – Mondoweiss

    07-04-20 03:05:00,

Ten days ago the big news from Israel was that Benny Gantz was abandoning his opposition to Benjamin Netanyahu amid the coronavirus emergency and they were moving to form a “unity” government of former rivals, with a strong and all-Jewish majority: Netanyahu’s rightwing bloc of 58 seats + 15 or so of Gantz’s shattered centrist Blue White party.

Now the days pass and no Israeli government! Why not? The news from Israel is that Netanyahu is negotiating under a lot of pressure from his right wing to use the Trump window, which may be closing soon, to annex the West Bank; and Gantz has folded. The main stumbling block to a new government are judiciary issues touching on Netanyahu’s indictment.

“It seems sadly we are inching closer an closer to a reality we have worked hard to prevent,” Adina Vogel-Ayalon of J Street said today: what liberal Zionists call annexation, but the right calls “sovereignty” (and the left calls the one-state reality).

Nancy Pelosi needs to act now and call Benny Gantz to head off the possibility, Tal Shalev of Walla News told a J Street webinar.

Shalev that Netanyahu has had a “brilliant” month politically and Gantz has folded again and again on negotiations over annexation, so that today it seems his Blue-White partner Gabi Ashkenazi is the only real block to annexation. Shalev said the agreement-in-progress between Gantz and Netanyahu for a new governing coalition gives Netanyahu authority and power to move ahead with annexation whenever he wants “while consulting with Gantz and consulting with the international community.” Consultation means nothing, Shalev said. “Gantz will say that there are some limitations, but it seems like that’s more of a mask, and it seems that Gantz acceded to all Netanyahu’s demands on annexation.”

Gantz tried to block annexation but failed repeatedly as “Netanyahu said forget about it,” Shalev said.

Gantz’s political difficulty is that there is a solid (all-Jewish) majority in the Knesset for annexation, and Trump is for anything Israel wants to do, so the moment is now. Netanyahu has a strong hand because Gantz already gave up his political capital; coronavirus has made Netanyahu a popular emergency leader and; Netanyahu can always hold out for a fourth election in which his chances are even better,

Netanyahu uses coronavirus to lure rival Gantz into ‘emergency’ government

    30-03-20 07:57:00,

Benny Gantz, the former Israeli general turned party leader, agreed late last week to join his rival Benjamin Netanyahu in an “emergency government” to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.

Two weeks ago he had won a wafer-thin majority vote in the parliament that gave him first shot at trying to put together a coalition government.

Instead he has conceded to Netanyahu, who will remain prime minister for the next 18 months. Gantz is supposed to take over in late 2021, though Netanyahu has a formidable reputation for double-dealing.

Over the past year Gantz fought three hotly contested, though indecisive, general elections in which he vowed to bring down Netanyahu, who has ruled continuously for 11 years.

He had promised supporters he would never sit in a government alongside Netanyahu, who is due to stand trial on multiple corruption charges.

Predictably, the U-turn tore apart Gantz’s Blue and White party. Denouncing the decision, two of the alliance’s three constituent factions said they would head into the opposition.

There has been increasing governmental paralysis over the past year with neither Gantz nor Netanyahu able to cobble together a majority coalition with other parties.

The reason was the Joint List party, representing Israel’s Palestinian citizens, a fifth of the country’s population, which effectively held the balance of votes. None of the main Jewish parties was prepared to be seen relying on its 15 seats.

Even with Gantz’s depleted party, Netanyahu’s “emergency government” should now be able to muster more than 70 seats in the 120-member parliament, giving him a safe majority.

Renowned for his ability to pull off political miracles, Netanyahu appears to have gradually worn down Gantz’s resistance over the past 12 months. The coronavirus epidemic proved the final straw.

Netanyahu has exploited justifiable fears about the virus to cement his status as Father of the Nation. In regular addresses, he has presented himself as Israel’s Winston Churchill, the British wartime leader who helped vanquish the Nazis.

He has now served longer as prime minister than the country’s founding father, David Ben Gurion.

Gantz, it seems, assessed that there was no practical way to push for a fourth election during the current lockdowns. And in any case Netanyahu,

Pompeo and Netanyahu Paved a Path to War with Iran, and They’re Pushing Trump Again – Global Research

    23-03-20 11:46:00,

Though it narrowly averted war with Iran this January, the Trump administration is still pushing for all-out military conflict. The architects of the drive to war, Mike Pompeo and Benjamin Netanyahu, have relied on a series of cynical provocations to force Trump’s hand.

The administration of President Donald Trump may escape the most recent conflict with Iran without war, however, a dangerous escalation is just over the horizon.  And as before, the key factors driving the belligerence are not outraged Iraqi militia leaders or their allies in Iran, but Trump’s secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long sought to draw the US into a military confrontation with Iran.

Throughout the fall of 2019, Netanyahu ordered a series of Israeli strikes against Iranian allies in Iraq and against Lebanese Hezbollah units. He and Pompeo hoped the attacks would provoke a reaction from their targets that could provide a tripwire outright war with Iran. As could have been expected, corporate US media missed the story, perhaps because it failed to reinforce the universally accepted narrative of a hyper-aggressive Iran emboldened by Trump’s failure to “deter” it following Iran’s shoot-down of a U.S. drone in June, and an alleged Iranian attack on Saudi oil facility in September.

Pompeo and John Bolton set the stage for the tripwire strategy in May 2019 with a statement by national security adviser John Bolton citing “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings,” implying an Iranian threat without providing concrete details. That vague language echoed a previous vow by Bolton that “any attack” by Iran or “proxy” forces “on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

Then came a campaign of leaks to major news outlet suggesting that Iran was planning attacks on U.S. military personnel. The day after Bolton’s statement, the Wall Street Journal reported that unnamed U.S. officials cited “U.S. intelligence” showing that Iran “drew up plans to target U.S. forces in Iraq and possibly Syria, to orchestrate attacks in the Bab el-Mandeb strait near Yemen through proxies and in the Persian Gulf with its own armed drones….”

The immediate aim of this campaign was to gain Trump’s approval for contingency plans for a possible war with Iran that included the option of sending as many 120,000 U.S.

Netanyahu Gives Himself Broad Phone Tapping Powers To Fight “Invisible Enemy” Coronavirus

    17-03-20 11:47:00,

Over the weekend we noted with alarm that the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now tapping counter-terror forces and technology to fight the “invisible enemy” of the coronavorus – as Netanyahu put it in a Saturday address.

“We will very soon begin using technology… digital means that we have been using in order to fight terrorism,” Netanyahu had said. Among these new “emergency measures” include broader domestic phone tapping powers as part of the counter-terror technology initiative, as AP reports

Netanyahu’s Cabinet on Sunday authorized the Shin Bet security agency to use its phone-snooping tactics on coronavirus patients, an official confirmed, despite concerns from civil-liberties advocates that the practice would raise serious privacy issues. The official spoke on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement.

Via Reuters: Netanyahu called coronavirus the “invisible enemy that must be located.”

Ironically enough the outbreak scare has emboldened Netanyahu to admit that much of his plan will “entail a certain degree of violation of privacy.” This extreme overstep action comes as Israel has reached over 200 confirmed Covid-19 cases and has thousands in mandated quarantine.

The technology, which according to the prime minister has “never been used on civilians” – a highly doubtful claim – will help track an infected person’s history of past interactions as well as current whereabouts, ensuring they don’t break isolation, according to the plan.

“They are not minor measures. They entail a certain degree of violation of the privacy of those same people, who we will check to see whom they came into contact with while sick and what preceded that. This is an effective tool for locating the virus,” Netanyahu said.

Well at the very least he was honest about taking Israeli society down the road of Orwellian police state in the name of “protection” from the pandemic. However, we would note that it’s the first we’ve heard of a country openly touting its counter-terror technology and domestic spying as being used to fight the virus, with the exception of China.

Netanyahu said these are “means that until today I have refrained from using among the civilian population.”

    This is not the Purge,

Benyamin Netanyahu, bombardementen en verkiezingen | Uitpers

        26-02-20 08:22:00,

Netanyahu Boasts He Destroyed Free Speech in America

        21-02-20 08:44:00,

This piece originally appeared on Informed Comment

Israeli caretaker prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who has been indicted for corruption and is facing an election soon, just boasted that his ministry of strategic affairs has managed to undermine First Amendment protections for free speech in the United States by lobbying state legislatures to pass laws forbidding the boycott of Israel.

Anti-boycott laws of the Old South were used against Martin Luther King Jr. and other activists in the civil rights movement to keep African Americans subordinate and segregated. The right to boycott establishments over civil rights was upheld by the Supreme Court in 1982 in NAACP v. Claiborne Hardware.

It was also not for nothing that the American administration has taken this step together with us. In recent years, we have promoted laws in most US states, which determine that strong action is to be taken against whoever tries to boycott Israel.

        — PM of Israel (@IsraeliPM) February 12, 2020

Some 28 U.S. states have passed laws prohibiting the boycott of Israel and are attempting to punish this action by denying such individuals state contracts.

Gilad Erdan is the head of the ministry of strategic affairs, which has spearheaded the attempt to undermine the U.S. Constitution and make criticizing Israeli policy illegal in the United States. This effort is allegedly being aided by Mossad, Israeli intelligence. Mossad intensively spies on Washington, D.C., and may have compromising information on U.S. politicians.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, is the main instrument of such Israeli policy pushes in the United States, and has never been forced to register as the agent of a foreign state, as U.S. law requires.

Photo by Kobi Gideon/GPO via Getty Images

It should be noted that the anti-boycott laws do not only punish companies. Most states treat individuals providing them services as companies categorized as “sole proprietors.” University professors invited to speak on campus in the states with these horrid laws have been asked to sign statements saying they don’t boycott Israel before being allowed to speak. These procedures are the most dangerous assault on free speech in the United States since the McCarthy era.

Netanyahu roept op tot sancties tegen ‘antisemitisch’ Internationaal Strafhof – The Rights Forum

Fatou Bensouda Benjamin Netanyahu Internationaal Strafhof oorlogsmisdaden antisemitisme Kolonisering

            Netanyahu, go home now

            22-11-19 09:05:00,

Something momentous happened in Israel Thursday. Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit announced three indictments against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: for bribery, fraud and breach of trust in Case 4000 and for fraud and breach of trust in cases 1000 and 2000. Netanyahu’s promise to the public that “there will be nothing because there is nothing” has turned out, like his other promises, to be false.

The statements Netanyahu made about former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert during the time the latter was under investigation should now be said about Netanyahu: “A prime minister who is up to his neck in investigations does not have a moral and public mandate to decide such fateful things for the State of Israel.”

But Netanyahu listens to no one, not even himself. Anyone who expected a modicum of proper conduct from the prime minister saw once again his colossal irresponsibility. Netanyahu proved that Israel is not his top priority, but rather a means for him to continue in office. On Thursday Netanyahu made clear that Mendelblit’s decision was not the end of his term in office, but only the opening salvo in the most vicious and destructive battle of all – against the attorney general, the prosecution and the police. Netanyahu used up all his rhetorical ammunition, along the lines of the biblical Samson’s “let me die with the Philistines”: “attempted judicial coup,” “frame-up,” “selective enforcement” and “polluted process of investigation” are just a few examples from his unbridled speech, which he ended with a demand to “investigate the investigators.”

The letter of the law does allow the prime minister to remain in office until the final judgment is rendered. But if there is anything Netanyahu has proven in his latest term, and even more so in his speech Thursday, it is that he cannot wage a legal battle to clear his name and run the country at the same time. In the choice between the good of the country and his personal good, Netanyahu always chose what was good for him. Ever since the beginning of the investigation he has behaved acted like a common criminal, denying wrongdoing and lashing out at the police and the justice system. For the past two years, the entire apparatus of government has been under unprecedented assault.

              Netanyahu’s Pre-Indictment Hearing Begins – Global Research

              02-10-19 03:35:00,

The hearing begun Wednesday is expected to last four days, maybe longer.

Netanyahu’s 10-lawyer team is up against 20 state prosecution officials, headed by AG Avichai Mandelblit, State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan, and Liat Ben-Ari, lead prosecutor in three criminal cases against him.

Evidence is damning. He faces fraud and breach of trust charges in three criminal cases, bribery in one of them.

Barring Knesset legislation he seeks for immunity as prime minister and to prevent Israel’s Supreme Court from denying it, AG Mandelblit will decide whether or not he’s prosecuted.

He faces Case 1000, 2000, and 4000 charges. In December 2018, the State Prosecutor’s Office recommended indicting him for bribery in two of the above cases.

Case 1000 involves lavish gifts Netanyahu got from Israeli billionaire Arnon Milchan in return for political favors.

Case 2000 is about the prime minister getting caught red-handed on tape, negotiating a quid pro quo with Yedioth Ahronoth publisher Arnon Mozes for more favorable broadsheet coverage in return for legislation prohibiting distribution of the free daily Israel Hayom, YA’s main competitor, owned by Netanyahu supporter Sheldon Adelson.

Case 4000 alleges police suspect Walla news owner/controlling shareholder of Bezeq telecommunications company Shaul Elovitch ordered favorable coverage of Netanyahu on his news site in return for benefits arranged for Bezeq.

In its latest edition, the Times of Israel published the full text of “criminal allegations against Netanyahu, as set out by Israel’s AG.”

Given hard evidence supporting charges against him, the broadsheet said he intends “to advance legislation to render himself immune from prosecution in three criminal cases in which he is facing indictment, and that he will also seek to prevent Israel’s Supreme Court from intervening in this effort.”

Last May, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that he’ll seek legislative immunity for as long as he remains prime minister, why he’s going all-out to retain power, along with wanting continuation of his political career.

He reportedly told Likud Knesset members the following:

“The citizens of Israel deserve a full-time prime minister. I’ll deal with my legal issues when I have completed my time (in office).”

“The citizens of Israel knew about my legal situation and elected me.

Referendum on Netanyahu & settlement annexations: Israel goes to polls in historic snap elections

              17-09-19 07:17:00,

Israelis are hitting the polls for the second time this year. The already unprecedented general election is also the culmination of an existential drama for PM Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Having already secured Washington’s backing for the Israeli claims to the Golan Heights and Jerusalem, Netanyahu had to up the stakes, vowing on the eve of the vote to annex Hebron as well as the Israeli settlements in the Jordan Valley, if elected.

This may be a step farther than his main challenger, Benjamin ‘Benny’ Gantz of the Kahol Lavan (Blue and White) bloc is ready to take. However, Gantz himself is no dove, having overseen the 2012 and 2014 onslaughts against Gaza as chief of the general staff of the Israel Defense Forces.

              Also on
Netanyahu says he will annex Jewish settlements in Hebron if re-elected

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is holding back his “deal of the century” peace plan pending the outcome of the election, with the clear implication that he is basing it on Netanyahu staying in power. Netanyahu, 69, is already the longest-serving prime minister in Israeli history, having held the reins of power for a total of 13 years so far: from 1996 to 1999, and then since 2009.

The election itself is a result of a failure to form a government following the vote in April, in which Netanyahu’s Likud Party and Blue and White were tied at 35 Knesset seats each, with smaller parties dividing the remaining 50. Neither managed to attract enough smaller parties to reach the bare minimum of 61 seats needed for a government, however, as conflict between the ultra-religious Haredim and the nationalist settlers scuttled coalition talks.

Five months later, the divisions are no less pronounced. With the once-dominant Labor party in free-fall since 2001, the majority of Israeli parties are on the right spectrum, but that only means the campaign has been divisive, intensely personal, and focusing on the tyranny of small differences.

This is a vote about who Israelis want to be,” Professor Moshe Maoz of Hebrew University in Jerusalem told USA Today.

The Adelsons May Have Cut Ties with Netanyahu More than a Year Ago–And No One Noticed – Global Research

              16-09-19 09:36:00,

In the days leading up to the Israeli election on Sept. 17, President Donald Trump appears to have left Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu twisting in the wind.

While most observers have been attributing Trump’s cooling toward Netanyahu to either rational foreign policy differences–particularly rumors that Trump may make an overture to the leadership of Israel’s arch-enemy, Iran–or Trump’s irrational idiosyncratic irascibility, there’s another factor that is being largely ignored: Trump’s mega-fans, Sheldon and Miriam Adelson.

Leaked transcripts of testimony given to police, disclosed by the Israeli media in the past several days and recent weeks, reveal that the Adelsons are no longer backing Netanyahu, and have not been for quite some time. Sheldon Adelson reportedly testified to police investigators in October 2018, in connection with one of three ongoing corruption probes of Netanyahu, that he had cut his ties with Bibi and had vowed that he would never meet with him again.

In March 2017, in their coverage of the corruption charges for which Netanyahu was under investigation and could potentially be indicted—Israeli media reported that Netanyahu and Israeli media mogul Arnon Mozes, publisher of Yediot Aharonot [Latest News], had discussed ways to weaken or shut down the Adelsons’ Israel Hayom [Israel Today] newspaper. In exchange, Yediot Aharonot would give Netanyahu more favorable coverage and attack his political opponents. Founded in 1939, Yediot Aharanot had been Israel’s largest newspaper in circulation in sales and circulation until Sheldon and Miriam Adelson had established Israel Today in 2007 with the aim of getting Netanyahu elected and keep him power.

Subscriptions to Israel Today and copies in print and online are available at no cost—except to the Adelsons—and it is believed to be Israel’s most widely read newspaper. “Israel Hayom has consistently supported the prime minister,” according the English language Times of Israel. “Its unfailing backing of Netanyahu has been characterized by the playing down of his failures, the hyping of his achievements and the lashing of his critics. It has also shied away from praising his rivals.” The Adelsons don’t appear to be directly implicated in what became known as Case 2000, except insofar as Netanyahu appears to have been more than willing to throw them under the bus by supporting a law that would ban free newspapers—like Israel Hayom.

‘Netanyahu goes to Putin to show Israeli voters: ‘I’m an important world leader’

              12-09-19 07:45:00,

Vladimir Putin’s upcoming talks with Benjamin Netanyahu in Sochi are more important for the Israeli PM’s fight for re-election, but comparing notes with a key Middle Eastern player is also good for Russia, experts have told RT.

When Netanyahu lands on Russia’s Black Sea coast on Thursday, he’ll do so with mostly domestic politics on his mind, says Gideon Levy, Israeli journalist and columnist with newspaper Haaretz. “There is only one purpose to the visit and that’s the election.”

              ‘It’s all about the election’

“Netanyahu wants to show [voters] that he’s a statesman who meets the leaders of the world” like Putin, he believes.

A snap legislative election is scheduled to take place in Israel on September 17. It was ordered when Netanyahu failed to form a ruling coalition after the vote in April, becoming the first prime minister in the country’s history to commit such a blunder.

“Netanyahu is now fighting for each vote because the picture is very even,” Levy explained.

Sochi was chosen as his destination because “there are many [Israeli] voters who were born in Russia. For them, it might be impressive that President Putin is meeting with Netanyahu so often,” he said.

The fact that the Israeli PM is going to Putin, of all international leaders, ahead of a crucial domestic vote again proves that “Russia is now a very important player in the Middle East,” Tatyana Karasova from the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Oriental Studies pointed out. “Even Israel, which used to only look at the US, is unable to ignore Moscow’s stance.”

‘Putin will ask him not to annex Jordan Valley’

The visit is taking place in the wake of Netanyahu’s controversial pledge to annex the Jordan Valley in the West Bank if he’s re-elected. The statement was clearly aimed at garnering support from right-wing political forces before the vote, but the Israeli leader would still have some explaining to do in Sochi.

“The position of Moscow is unchanged – it’s against any annexations,” Karasova pointed out. “Netanyahu needs to make it so that his extremist statements don’t hamper relations with Russia… he values those ties highly and considers them his merit.”

What Vladimir Putin is likely going to tell Netanyahu in Sochi is: “Don’t annex the Jordan Valley,” Dmitry Maryasis,

Netanyahu Cries Wolf About a Nonexistent Iranian Nuclear Threat — Again – Global Research

              10-09-19 02:47:00,

Nuclear armed and dangerous Israel is a global menace, an indisputable fact.

It maintains unlawful stockpiles of chemical, biological, and other terror weapons as well.

The world community and establishment media remain silent about its existential threat to regional peace and stability — its global threat in cahoots with US-led NATO wars of aggression.

Iran’s legitimate nuclear program with no military component is the world’s most intensively monitored.

Each time nuclear watchdog IAEA monitors inspect its sites, they affirm its Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)/JCPOA compliance.

Rolling back its voluntary commitments under the deal is permitted by Articles 26 and 36 because of non-compliance by other JCPOA signatories — to be reversed if Britain, France, Germany, and the EU fulfill obligations they breached so far.

Time and again for years, Netanyahu and other Israeli hardliners cried wolf about Iran’s legitimate nuclear program, blasting the Big Lie about a nonexistent Iranian threat.

Ahead of September 17 Israeli elections, his political future at stake, Netanyahu once again used fear-mongering tactics as a vote-getting scheme.

Numerous times before, he claimed an Iranian nuclear threat that doesn’t exist, and never did throughout Islamic Republic history — ignoring real threats posed by Israel’s WMDs and hegemonic aims.

In a 2012 General Assembly address, Netanyahu’s cartoon bomb presentation on Iran bombed.

He falsely claimed the JCPOA “deal paved Iran’s path to a nuclear arsenal.”

He lied claiming sanctions lifted by the JCPOA’s adoption “fueled Iran’s campaign of carnage and conquest throughout the Middle East” that doesn’t exist — how the US, NATO and Israel operate, not Tehran.

He turned truth on its head again Monday, falsely claiming Iran seeks nukes — despite no credible evidence supporting his Big Lie.

In May 2018, timed with Trump’s JCPOA pullout, he falsely claimed Israel has thousands of incriminating documents, charts, presentations, photos and videos, showing Tehran lied for years to the international community.

Citing no credible evidence because none exists, he lied claiming Iran has a secret nuclear weapons program called Project Amad – to “design, produce and test 5 warheads, each of 10 kilotons TNT yield for integration on a missile.”

Despite IAEA inspectors with full access to Iranian nuclear facilities affirming the full “implementat(ion) (of) its nuclear-related commitments,” Netanyahu turned truth on its head,

Netanyahu Fighting for His Political Life – Global Research

              09-09-19 03:14:00,

On April 9, Israeli Knesset elections were held, 61 coalition seats needed for majority rule.

New elections were called after Netanyahu failed to cobble together enough support for reelection as prime minister. He remains interim PM.

On September 17, Israelis go to the polls again to elect a prime minister and Knesset members.

Ten parties are competing for seats. Polls show Netanyahu-led Likud and Benny Gantz/Yair Lapid’s Blue and White party are each projected to win 31 of 120 Knesset seats, according to polls.

Throughout Jewish state history, Israeli coalitions governed, no single party ever winning a majority on its own.

Today extremist right-wing parties dominate Israel’s political landscape, reflecting hardline rule, democracy pure fantasy as in the West.

Netanyahu is desperate to retain power ahead of an October pre-indictment hearing on bribery, fraud, and breach of trust charges, strong evidence against him.

Ahead of elections, Israeli military intelligence-connected DEBKAfile (DF) said he warned Hamas via Egyptian officials that he “stands ready for a major war,” adding:

“The IDF already had its orders and is standing ready to launch a comprehensive military campaign against Hamas” — next week’s elections possibly to be postponed if occurs.

Is more Israeli aggression on Gaza coming for the fourth time since December 2008?

Is waging it a Netanyahu pre-election scheme against a nonexistent enemy to win votes in a closely contested race?

Is Lebanon’s Hezbollah a possible target? Last week, its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel of a strong response if it attacks Lebanese territory aggressively, saying:

If the IDF “attack(s), then all your borders and forces will be at risk,” adding: “(N)o longer” will red lines be observed, vowing to attack “deep inside” Israel in response to its aggression.

On Sunday, Israeli media reported that IDF troops began large-scale military exercises, simulating war on Hezbollah, perhaps on Gaza as well.

On Monday, Hezbollah said it downed an Israeli drone operating illegally in Lebanese airspace, the IDF admitting loss of its UAV, saying it “crashed on the Lebanese side.”

Earlier, Nasrallah declared a “new phase” against Israeli aggression, “a new battlefield which is targeting Israel’s drones in Lebanon’s skies,

Netanyahu Played with Fire, Now for the Burning Hands Part

              26-08-19 08:19:00,

Mr. Insecurity – Netanyahu embattled PM of Israel

The embattled Israeli prime minister Netanyahu doesn’t have many choices after next month’s elections as we noted in our previous post: reelected as Prime Minister or serving a prison term.

‘Previously, Israeli politicians were campaigning for their elections on the blood of the Palestinians, Lebanese, and Syrians’, Hezbollah Chief Sayyed Hassan Nasr Allah in his statement yesterday commemorating the 2nd anniversary of cleaning the ‘Anti-Lebanon Mountains’ from ISIS and Nusra Front terrorist groups, he was referring to the massacres and wars waged by the Israeli officials to win the votes of the radical settlers.

‘After (what happened) yesterday, Netanyahu is campaigning his elections with the Israelis’ blood’, Nasr Allah continued.

Simply put: The latest aggression by the Netanyahu forces in Beirut and Damascus countryside the night of 24th August will be retaliated for in the occupied Palestinian territories, call it Israel if it suits you.

Foreign imported radical settlers occupying #Palestine (civilians, if there’s any) should seek shelter from now until the three parties state officially they retaliated.#Syria #Aqraba #Hezbollah #PFLP_GC #Israel #Stupid_Netanyahu #ينضبوا

              — Arabi Souriعربي سوري (@3arabiSouri) August 25, 2019

Just before 24th August midnight Damascus local time a number of missiles were fired on several targets in the Syrian capital Damascus and its southeast countryside, most of the missiles were intercepted and shot down by the Syrian Arab Army’s air defenses protecting strategical facilities, at least one, and could be a ‘suicide drone,’ reached the town of Aqraba and was blown up into a residential building with a resting apartment used by Hezbollah members responsible for protecting the Shiite’s sacred shrine of Sayyeda Zainab, which hosts the body of the Prophet’s granddaughter Zainab.

New reports that Netanyahu forces have crossed another red line set by the strategy of deterring post the 2006 failed Israeli aggression against Lebanon, news that Israel bombed a site used by the Palestinian PFLP-GC deep inside Lebanon near the borders with Syria. This particular faction is one of Israel’s worst nightmares, targeting it will definitely bring retaliation by its members inside and outside occupied Palestinian territories.

Netanyahu Forces Bomb Damascus ahead of Israeli Elections

              25-08-19 08:20:00,

Prison or Prime Minister, the Israeli Netanyahu going to all extents including blowing away the last fig leave that covers Israeli’s relations with Al-Qaeda in Syria. During the past couple of weeks, Netanyahu forces have been bombing Iraqi weapons depots in Iraq, shooting and bombing into besieged Gaza, desecrating Islam’s second holiest Aqsa Mosque, aggressive settlements building all over occupied Palestine, and topped it up with this latest aggression yesterday night by bombing near Damascus, Syria.

Details of this latest aggression against Syria are still developing, and also from Lebanon where one or two Israeli drones seem to be brought down near the Lebanese capital Beirut, but what is certain so far is the Al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front losing of Khan Sheikhoun has panicked the Israeli regime to the extent of exposing their direct support to Al-Qaeda, in addition to all the previous attacks carried out against Syria.

What we know so far is at 22:30, 24 August Damascus local time sounds of explosions heard over the Syrian capital Damascus to what seems to be an Israeli bombing attempt from the occupied Syrian Golan targeting Mezzah Military Airbase, some local sources confirming most incoming missiles were intercepted and destroyed before reaching targets.

Local sources said one of the Israeli targets was a building in the town of Aqraba, southwest of Damascus near the Damascus International Airport’s highway.

Simultaneously, two Israeli drones were intercepted over the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut and were brought down, one was an attack drone and the other was a surveillance drone, Hezbollah has cordoned the site of the missiles, a local reported.

This comes just a couple of days after the bombing of weapons depots run by the Iraqi army and the Iraqi Hashd Sha’abi PMU in 3 locations inside Iraq. Being put in an embarrassing situation with a supposed to be an ally, the US singled out Israel in these attacks, especially after the Iraqi government ordered to shoot down any flying object over Iraq that does not have the written approval of the prime minister.

It also comes on the heels of Syrians celebrating the defeat of Al-Qaeda in northern Hama and evicting it from Khan Sheikhoun in southern Idlib.

              21-08-19 02:19:00,

Ilhan Omar Rashida Tlaib Omar Shakir Netanyahu Trump

Netanyahu to decide whether to allow BDS-endorsing US congresswomen in – report

              18-07-19 10:03:00,

Any person supporting the BDS movement may be barred from entering Israel. It will be up to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to decide whether this law would apply to US representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

The boycott, divestment and sanctions movement (BDS) seeks to punish Israel economically for its continued occupation of Palestinian land, similar to how South Africa was targeted during the times of apartheid. Israel itself seeks to oppose the movement globally, calling it biased and anti-Semitic in nature.

Any person supporting BDS may be turned back when trying to enter Israel, but a waiver is possible for political and diplomatic figures. The country’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, will personally decide whether to issue such exceptions to two US Congresswomen, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, when they try to travel to Israel, according to Haaretz.

Omar and Tlaib, the only two Muslim women in the US Congress, have been opposing attempts to ban participating in BDS action in the US. Omar this week introduced a bill, which would affirm the right of US citizens to boycott foreign nations. It has been co-sponsored by Tlaib. Both vocally opposed a bill co-sponsored by over 300 fellow representatives across the aisle, which would declare Congress opposition to BDS.

.@HouseForeign wants to move forward w/ #HR246#AntiBDS bill to silence opposition of Israel’s blatantly racist policies ⬇️ that demonize both Palestinians & Ethiopians.

Our 1st Amd. right to free speech allows boycott of inhumane policies. This bill is unconstitutional.

              — Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) July 10, 2019

Representative Omar plans to visit Israel and West Bank “in a couple of weeks,” she told the Jewish Insider. “Everything that I hear points to both sides feeling like there is still an occupation,” she told the newspaper.

Tlaib’s congressional delegation in scheduled for August, though it hit a bump recently after a non-profit group, which was supposed to handle logistics of the trip, dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, as reported by the Daily News. Her visit is meant to be an alternative to that traditionally organized each year by AIPAC for members of the US Congress.

Netanyahu belooft Palestijnen eeuwige bezetting – The Rights Forum

No partner for peace / Netanyahu belooft Palestijnen eeuwige bezetting

I am guided by several principles when it comes to the West Bank. The first – this is our homeland. The second – we will continue to build and develop it. Third – not one resident [settler] or community [settlement] will be uprooted in a political agreement. Fourth – the Israeli military and security forces will continue to rule the entire territory, up to the Jordan Valley.

Bolton and Netanyahu killed 2005 Iran talks, ‘lured’ Trump into shredding 2015 deal – Iranian FM

              09-07-19 12:39:00,

National Security Advisor John Bolton and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scuppered a 2005 nuclear agreement between Iran and the west, and did the same with President Trump, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said.

“Bolton & Netanyahu killed Paris agreement between E3 & Iran in ’05 by insisting on zero enrichment,” Zarif tweeted on Tuesday. “Result? Iran increased its enrichment 100 fold by 2012.”

Referring to Bolton and Netanyahu as the “B Team,” Zarif then said that “they’ve lured Donald Trump into killing JCPOA w/the same delusion,” referring to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or Iran Nuclear Deal.

As Iran is pushed to step further away from nuclear deal, what’s next?

Iran stepped up its uranium enrichment on Monday, going beyond the JCPOA-mandated cap of 3.67 percent purification level, in response to the US’ unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA last year, and application of biting economic sanctions on Iran. The step-up in enrichment was also carried out as a response to the JCPOA’s European signatories’ failure to live up to their trade obligations with Iran under the deal.

Prior to Trump’s withdrawal from the deal, Netanyahu had pressured his American counterpart to abandon the deal, calling it a “historic mistake” and accusing Tehran of cheating on the deal – with the aid of a theatrical slideshow. In the run-up to the US withdrawal last year, Bolton, a longtime Iran war-hawk, called the deal a scam and promised regime change in the Islamic Republic by the year’s end.

A similar situation played out in 2005. After reaching an agreement with Germany, France and Britain, Iran agreed to suspend all uranium enrichment and to fully cooperate with inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Though the US remained absent from negotiations, Washington then lobbied its European allies to demand that Iran have no uranium enrichment facilities on its own soil,

Netanyahu’s wife convicted for misusing public funds after racking up $50k in catering bills

              16-06-19 04:53:00,

Sara Netanyahu’s lawyer has accused her embattled husband’s political opponents of orchestrating a case against his client after she was convicted of using public money to order food to the prime minister’s residence.

The judge in a Jerusalem court ordered Sara Netanyahu to pay NIS 55,000 ($15,210) as a fine and compensation on Sunday, after she had agreed to a plea deal four days earlier. Sara, the third wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was initially indicted for spending $100,000 in state funds on luxurious meals from the country’s top restaurants between 2010 and 2013. Such expenses are forbidden, as she had already been allocated a full-time chef at the residence – something she reportedly misrepresented to internal auditors when filing her expenses. The size of the alleged overspend was slashed to $50,000 this week, though she will not have to pay back even the reduced amount in full, unless the state pursues a separate civil case.

Despite voluntarily admitting her misdemeanor, Sara Netanyahu presented herself as the victim at the hearing, saying she’d “suffered enough” during the humiliating case, in which a senior residence official is also expected to plead guilty.

‘Nothing short of madness’: Netanyahu slammed for gender segregation offer to ultra-Orthodox parties

Her lawyer, Yossi Cohen, told the court in his closing statement that the investigation was a means of targeting her husband, who is facing an election in September.

“This is one of the most severe and hurtful punishments that a person I know has received. This is the result of four years of ugly, tendentious, libelous leaks that spilled my client’s blood. They forgot she is also a mother, a wife,” said Cohen.

“I stood here astonished at the lengths our society is willing to go to hurt a person,” he continued. “And of course nobody wanted to hurt Mrs Netanyahu. The goal was to hurt her husband, topple the government.”

Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been prime minister since 2009, faces a spate of more serious allegations, including illegal gift acceptance and media-influence peddling.

While proceedings have been ongoing for years, Netanyahu is particularly vulnerable after failing to cobble together a right-wing coalition following what appeared to be a victory in April’s election.

Benjamin Netanyahu: The Fugitive Crime Minister – Global Research

              03-06-19 08:15:00,

In a move considered surreal even two days ago, the Israeli Knesset – elected on April 9th – dissolved itself last night (Wednesday). Some new Members of Knesset didn’t even get to get to give their maiden speech.

The vote on dismissal came after a few political days which cannot be described as anything but lunatic.

In an attempt to get extra votes to get his government past the president, Netanyahu tried:

              • To get Labour to join his family, and failed.
              • He offered Tal Russo, a former general in 2nd place in Labour, the office of the Minister of Defense if he’d support his government. Russo, to his credit, said no.
              • Random Blue-White new MKs, still trying to find their way in the Knesset (in the lead rival party to Netanyahu’s Likud), were dumbfounded to be offered ambassadorships if they’d only support Netanyahu’s government. As this was a downgrade from the ministry positions they were offered in the last two days, they sensibly turned the offer down.
              • Haaretz reported sources in the Knesset said Netanyahu desperately tried to convince the two Palestinian MKs of the RAAM party to leave the plenum and avoid voting against his government, promising to stop the demolition of Bedouin houses in the south and recognition of an unrecognized Palestinian village; this ploy failed, as well.

With no cards up his sleeve and no rabbits in his hat, the so-called wizard of Israeli politics managed to pull an extraordinary act of self-immolation.

The “King” of Israeli politics failed to create a coalition, and he has only himself to blame. Let’s recount what happened, and begin with what we know. The unknowable will remain such.

Some basic law is needed. By law, once the Knesset is elected, the President must appoint an Member of Knesset – legally, any MK he so desires – to form a government. Without exception in the last 71 years, this was entrusted to the MK who had a majority around him. Often it was the leader of the largest party, but the system works by blocs: if you have 35 MKs in your party and can get another 26 MK’s to tell the President they support you,

“I wrote a book in 1995, and I said that if the West doesn’t wake up to the suicidal nature of militant Islam, the next thing you will see is militant Islam bringing down the World Trade Center.”

“Ik schreef in 1995 een boek, met de waarschuwing,
dat als het westen niet wakker zou gaan worden,
door het zelf-moorddadige karakter van de militante Islam,
dat dan het volgende wat zou gaan gebeuren, dat de
militante Islam het World Trade Center zal gaan neerhalen”

Bizar of héél bizar..?

              Waarom het WTC??

PressTV-‘Netanyahu’s friends made billions from 9/11 attacks’

              22-05-19 01:25:00,

Zionist businessmen Larry Silverstein and Lewis Eisenberg, who are close friends of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, made billions of dollars from the destruction of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, says Dr. Kevin Barrett, an American academic who has been studying the events of 9/11 since late 2003.

Dr. Barrett, a founding member of the Scientific Panel for the Investigation of 9/11, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Monday while commenting on the Dark Overlord’s threat of leaking thousands of secret documents related to 9/11.

The hacker group has said the leak will have devastating consequences for the US “deep state,” that collection of members of permanent employees of the intelligence, security and diplomatic services who operate independently of changes in the administration as, in essence, a permanent government.

The group has already released decryption keys for 650 documents it says are related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, but it is   just a fraction of the 18,000 secret 9/11 documents probably stolen from insurers, law firms, and government agencies, RT website reported on Friday.

The hackers at the Dark Overlord have described the secret the September 11 documents as “the 9/11 Papers.”

“It’s very interesting. I think the important thing that people need to know about this is why it’s important, why there could be anything important in these insurance companies’ documents,” Dr. Barrett said.

“So we need to go back to 2001 when the World Trade Center complex and especially the two Towers were creating terrible problems for the Port Authority which is the city government agency that owned these buildings,” he added.

“The Twin Towers were riddled with asbestos fireproofing, which was illegal, and they were under court order issued in January or early 2001 to remove the asbestos from the Towers. This would have cost billions, perhaps double-digit billions of dollars – economically a non-starter,” he stated.

“New York had been trying to find a way to demolish the Towers for years. They had high vacancy rate and antiquated communication infrastructure. But they could not tear them down because there was no way to do it economically,” the analyst said.

Larry Silverstein purportedly speaking in April 2000 about World Trade Center 7.
