Rising Up – Anti-Lockdown Protests Spread Across Europe

20-11-20 09:58:00,

Via Off-Guardian.org,

As the alleged “second wave” of the Coronavirus “pandemic” is reported to be sweeping across Europe in recent weeks, many governments have enthusiastically embraced their totalitarian side and granted themselves sweeping new “emergency powers” alongside new lockdown measures.

The public has been markedly less co-operative this time around. Rebelling against the seemingly arbitrary limitations which are not supported by either science or common sense. Protests have taken place all across the continent.

Thousands of people gathered in Berlin over the last few days, protesting the Merkel government passing a new lockdown law. Police turned water cannons on the crowds, and nearly 200 people were arrested.

According to reliable sources, elements of Antifa rushed to the scene of the Anti-New Normal Totalitarianism protest in Berlin today, hoping to hold the “Corona Deniers” down, so that the cops could hose them real good, but they were just a little too late. pic.twitter.com/RdQ67qYjnN

The mainstream reported “hundreds” of protesters, but as pictures plainly show it was more like tens of thousands:

After the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez declared a sixth-month state of emergency in late October, there were days of protests across the country.

Barcelona, already a hot-bed of anti-government feeling due to the brutal repression of the Catalan Independence referendum, saw violent confrontations between riot police and protestors

Emmanuel Macron’s brand new “comprehensive security law”, known by protesters as the “gag law”, would further militarise French police whilst making it a crime to capture or distribute the image of police officer. It has met fervent resistance in the shape of angry marches through cities across the country.

Exponentially Rising Hunger in America – Global Research

03-06-20 08:02:00,

American workers

How is it possible that anyone could go hungry in the world’s richest country?

The scourge of neoliberal indifference toward public welfare caused the disturbing reality.

It’s the American way, supported by both right wings of the one-party state — Dems as dismissive toward what just societies cherish as Republicans.

The nation’s resources increasingly go for global militarism, endless wars on humanity, enforcing homeland police state harshness, and open-checkbook handouts to corporate America.

Ordinary people have no say over how they’re governed, no way to secure “the General

Welfare (and) Blessings of Liberty” as the Constitution mandates.

Nor can they “petition the Government for a redress of grievances” so fundamental rights guaranteed by the nation’s founding document are enforced.

The nation’s ruling class ignores them, serving themselves and other privilege interests at their expense.

That’s what “America the beautiful is all about” — enforced by police state harshness “from sea to shining sea.”

The American dream is a mirage — an insult to the hungry, food insecure, homeless, and impoverished.

Only asleep can ordinary people believe it, as the late George Carlin explained.

Operating nationwide, Feeding America (FA) “is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.”

It expressed shock “that anyone in America” goes hungry.” Yet it’s a national epidemic at all times — today at an unprecedented level because of economic collapse, the nation’s ruling class making an untenable situation worse by indifference toward vital public needs.

In a late May report, FA analyzed hunger and food insecurity “for the overall population and children by state, county and congressional district.”

At a time when America’s billionaires never had things better, FA estimates that about 54 million people in the world’s richest country (1 in 6), including 18 million children (1 in 4) face the specter of hunger.

FA CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said the following:

Economic collapse in the US triggered by COVID-19 “continues to impact the lives and livelihoods of our neighbors nationwide, putting millions of additional people at risk of hunger while continuing to hurt people already familiar with hardship,” adding:

“The long-term effects of COVID-19 may be substantial,

Bloomberg’s Rising Polls Show The Power Of Billionaire Narrative Control

19-02-20 09:06:00,

Back in November Mike Bloomberg was polling at four percent nationally and had the highest disapproval rating of any potential Democratic presidential candidate, and understandably so; the man has a uniquely horrible record and no redeeming traits to speak of.

Now, after spending $400 million in broadcast, radio and cable ads, $42 million on Facebook ads, $36 million on Google ads, and an unknown fortune on other shady manipulations, a national Quinnipiac poll released last week put him at 15 percent nationally in the Democratic primary. This week national polls released by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist and Zogby put him at 19 and 20 percent, respectively.

You can argue against the validity of polls all you like, and surely none of them are pristine representations of public opinion. But there’s no denying that these numbers have gone way up, and there’s no denying that now, approvingly or not, everyone’s talking about Michael Bloomberg.

Late night talk show hosts are doing bits about the prevalence of Bloomberg ads. People are making satirical videos spoofing them. I’ve seen parents complaining that their kids recite lines from his ads at the dinner table. It’s a story in itself. It’s saturating social consciousness. It’s very much a thing.

“Nothing remotely like what Mike Bloomberg is doing has ever been seen in US politics – nothing in the same universe,” journalist Glenn Greenwald recently tweeted. “And the threat and danger it (and he) poses to US democracy is equally without comparison.”

Greenwald is of course correct. But while Bloomberg is doing something that is without precedent, his campaign is also highlighting problems with the system which have existed for ages. And in my opinion it would be an unfortunate waste if his campaign came and went without these problems getting more attention than they currently are.

Mike Bloomberg is not the first plutocrat to use his wealth to manipulate a US election,
